This is exactly my experience. Sites which have had 500 articles of quality content, with exceptional white hat link profiles have dropped - in one case from position 2 for a huge kw to page 17! Black hat sites doing everything wrong now on page one. WTF! Seems to me Google is targeting those people specifically trying to do things by the book, perhaps to try to drive them into PPC out of desperation.
They are the absolute scum of the earth!

Yup, my WH site that was jojo'ing jumped back to first page 3 days back or so, but only for 24 hours. Not Google has wiped it off the map entirely. Listed on 1st page for stupid irrelevant KW only (KW that are in no way targeted on the site or in links - just random words or names in some of the text) and for anything important we are simply gone off the face of the earth.

Haha, this cracked me up. Nice to have some opportunity to smile when my 10 year old website i've invested 10's of thousands in is on page 15!

I've been checking out the sites currently ranking highly on google.co.uk, since this update.
Lots of footer or sidebar run of site links -
Low diversity of anchor text
Spammy domain backlinks
Quantity rather than quality
It severely sucks to see Google adjusting their algo to allow this, but I guess it's open season for the spammers once more on Google.co.uk!

yea its been going on for quite a while. Go0gle cant show quality results anymore.

Yes my sites are dancing all over the place. It seems to be only hitting certain keywords as appose to the whole site. This leads me to believe that they are hitting a certain type of backlink with penalties.
