Is SMS marketing any good?

Hello everyone, I wanted to ask if you think that sms marketing is worth it, basically I would like to provide a digital service to offline businesses and I am thinking about scraping their phone numbers and then sending them a message with a link to my website. Also one question:

1. Will the mobile carriers allow my sms message to go through since it has a link in it?

You can use whatsapp active number to send your info because it's connected to internet when you send sms with link.

Use twilio if you're unsure.

I offer a service for offline clients that uses Twilio as the sms gateway, have people reselling the service all day long, a demo page which gets tested on average 75 times a day, over 400 texts each day.
Never had an issue and very cheap/.

Yes, as long as the link is not spam- contagious. Integrate the API of any of the SMS providers with the platform. You are all set to go!

Email marketing is better than SMS marketing but if you want to market your website on cell phones so target on whatsapp and other apps like this where you can better present your website and receiver may also be convert in to a visitor by clicking on it.

Rather than SMS marketing, try email or whatsapp marketing.
That would be much more beneficial

People are wrong here - SMS marketing is great for some demographic/niches. it can be way more engaging and direct. depends on your products etc

Why not just have a small test? compare SMS with the others like E-mail & Social media...etc.

SMS marketing is good for local brick & mortar businesses.
I have done it for my clients and have seen good results for local clients.

I imagine it would be profitable and I've thought about doing it before because it's really easy to program but I always figured it would get me in trouble for spamming people.

Don't listen to what these guys say, SMS marketing can be very profitable if you have good list of numbers and not just guessing. If you have sign ups. Everyone has smartphones and it has no security measures of any kind to prevent spam. I have made software and hardware for this purpose and still make some money from CPA offers and deals. You just have to be SMART spammer, not Nigerian prince offering millions of dollars spammer. The message is 90% of the effort the rest 10% is getting a good sms list. I been doing this for couple of years now.

I've seen various results. It depends per niche/vertical and of course content. Content is key in terms of SMS as you can expect. For an affiliate, SMS AND Whatsapp can work both much better for sending traffic. But as a direct advertiser, seen too many variations.

I wouldn't send it to random numbers. I'd use it as a rewards program for customers as they cash out or sign in. That way you can keep sending offers, instead of losing them off of your ranch so to speak. Otherwise you have less of a chance of getting repeat business.
