Hello everyone, I hope you guys are staying safe and banking hard.

So, long story short, I have a one-year-old blog where I've published around 100 articles. Most of the articles target low competition keywords, and therefore most of the articles that are on the first page of google got low-mid DR with almost no backlinks. I was doing well starting from September, until December, where Google has decided to break me down. In January I've recovered a bit, but still, the ranking, as well as traffic are both very low, compared to what they used to be. I was wondering if it's time for me to start building some backlinks cuz I've never done it before. If your answer is yes, could you please guys point me toward a good backlinks strategy in order to minimize the risks of being hit by Google. Also, which Backlink service do you guys recommend, please. I'm asking these questions cuz I got a tight budget, and I want to spend it really wisely.

Other than that, thank you for giving me a piece of your precious time. Peace!!! :D

Well good thing that you ranked only by keywords even without backlinks. But backlinks are as much important for ranking!!! Not to mention, it also solves the traffic issue.

Thank you guys for your answers

I got one more question. Let say that I've built few backlinks targeting a specific article. Do these backlinks affect the ranking of other pages that don't have anything pointing to them, or will they maintain the same position?

Yep.

1 year + 100 posts is good enough to work on external SEO. More than enough actually, you could've started after ~6 months.

100 percent agree. You should definitely start working on getting backlinks!

Build high quality links to your money pages and to our info articles as well. Internal link from your info articles to money pages boost your site authority too. Don't forget to build more links to your homepage.

You can sculpt it with internal links. Just link from that article to any other pages. But don't be too greedy and plan properly.

When u suddenly build links and it trigger the penalty one. So go slowly

You can start to built backlinks to increase the authority of your website. Backlink puts a heavy weight in ranking. Keep in mind that every one wants to be in top 10 result of Google. There are thousands of websites having same niche. Also, There are hundreds of website having very good content. Then, how Google will decide which website is better to show in top 10. Google select top websites by their backlink profile. The websites having good and natural backlink profile will rank higher in Google.

For a start you want Natural looking backlinks.
If your blog is about cars dont buy backlinks from bettys cooking school.

I think if you slowly build links from relevant sites (that are not toxic PBNs) you should be good.

building backlinks as a noob will add another factor into the equation when ur site gets slapped due to another update.
On the other hand you could start building backlinks slow and steady, just keep adding new hq ones regularly

For some niches, there is no need of BL to rank, but you never know. If you're the only one in the game, if someone spots you and want to compete with you, as the market is not free, they will consider a different strategy based on BL instead of content like you.

You should always consider doing the best, and best in SEO means that you need content, backlinks and SMO

Sometimes i find my self competing against Big sites without backlinks but with high DR that’s why i think that in order to rank high vs them, i will need to build some backlinks

Some people start building links from day one ;) In your case - Yes! I wouldn't go crazy with the link building, whatever strategy you follow, do it gradually. Don't go from 0 to 1000 backlinks in a week (heck, even a month if you haven't build a single backlink). Aim for quality backlinks, preferably from genuine websites with traffic - you earn a backlink + referral traffic

I see, thank you very much for your advice :)

Social links > Business Citations > Setup GMB > Guest Posts > PBN's > Editorial Links

Build in this order, not straight away, but as you gain more authority move to the next link type in the chain. Editorial links like forbes are when your site has become a tank and you can rank instantly on page 1 for easy-medium keywords.
