Is it safe to rewrite content?

Hello, I have this client's site that has been slightly impacted by the last quality update. I found out that some parts of their content is copied. I'm thinking about rewritting the content but the problem is that those pages that must be rewritten are actually ranking fine for some terms (they only lost rankings for some other terms).

What's your opinion about this? Could rewritting the articles harm the rankings for those other terms?

I don't think this would be great idea to rewrite content. Better if you can make it unique thought this will take most time to write. But it's better.

You mean not rewritting the old content at all but creating it from scratch? That's more or less what I have in mind, but I would like to know if some of you guys have done this and how did it, in your experience, impact rankings of those pages where the content was changed.
 
I think is better if you use unique content. However, I used to read content for example in English to do new articles in my language (spanish). But it's not rewrite its read and create unique content :)
 
Agree with previous commentors. I personaly use only unique content. There are tons of services or out-sourcing services to get your unique content for almost few dollars. But trust me, content will play very important role.
 
Instead of re write the article you have to write fresh and well-research content.
 
Unique contents are most important part nowdays, you must have to use unique contents with use of perfect keyword density for long time stable ranking and also your website will not harm in any updates by search engine.
 
As I said:I won't reutilize the old content, but create it from scratch. We all know that copied content is bad (my client has been penalized because he used copied content). My question is:

With changed I mean new fresh content. If those pages are already ranking for some terms, will those ranking suffer if the content is replaced by some other related piece of content?

Ok guys, now I can see that the title I set for this thread is totally misleading, my bad. That being added to the fact that many people answers by just reading the title and not the messages, makes this thread totally unrelated with the original question so I will let it die.

LESSON LEARNED: write my thread titles better.

if your content is duplicated i would suggest rewriting it again, especially if it has been on your website for a long period of time. It is recommended you update your content 2-3 times a year to keep your website fresh. The chances are your rankings will increase for whatever keywords you are already ranked high for. Google will also generate a meta description from your content to rank higher for users search terms. The more quality content you have on your web pages, the more choice Google will have to generate a bespoke meta description for users search queries.
 
Rewrite the pages and ensure you keep the terms inside them.
There is no harm in rewritten pages. The worst startegy is leave any text that appears on other sites,
no matter who the originator was.

Essentially this, you don't want Google to ever think that that you're trying to post the same thing twice.
 
Everything is depend on the quality of the content . There is no harm in rewritten pages but most important thing is that the content must be fresh and unique.
 
make the content unique and without grammatical errors. The re write article must be a quality content.
 
There is nothing wrong with rewriting content. As long as you make it 100% unique then it is fine.
 
If some parts are copied, why not simply try to make your existing content 100% unique again?
 
First : for every robot out there repeating each other.. Rewriting articles is great. As long as it passes palagrism you are fine

Second : Op.. It depends.. If you are ranking for good terms, I wouldnt touch it. If I want to rank for the other terms.. I will rewrite those terms only but keep the lsi and main keywords the same in order not to lose previous ranking

The gpod news.. The overoptimization penalty has no memory.. So, you can always get back to tbe older place with reposting the old content if something gone wrong
 
I would advice to write manually, if you want long term success with big G
 
not a good idea -_- just read the content , understand the topic and write your own article :) The article must be unique !
