Is it safe to rewrite content?

Hello, I have this client's site that has been slightly impacted by the last quality update. I found out that some parts of their content is copied. I'm thinking about rewritting the content but the problem is that those pages that must be rewritten are actually ranking fine for some terms (they only lost rankings for some other terms).

What's your opinion about this? Could rewritting the articles harm the rankings for those other terms?

I don't think this would be great idea to rewrite content. Better if you can make it unique thought this will take most time to write. But it's better.

You mean not rewritting the old content at all but creating it from scratch? That's more or less what I have in mind, but I would like to know if some of you guys have done this and how did it, in your experience, impact rankings of those pages where the content was changed.

I think is better if you use unique content. However, I used to read content for example in English to do new articles in my language (spanish). But it's not rewrite its read and create unique content

Agree with previous commentors. I personaly use only unique content. There are tons of services or out-sourcing services to get your unique content for almost few dollars. But trust me, content will play very important role.

As I said:I won't reutilize the old content, but create it from scratch. We all know that copied content is bad (my client has been penalized because he used copied content). My question is:

Ok guys, now I can see that the title I set for this thread is totally misleading, my bad. That being added to the fact that many people answers by just reading the title and not the messages, makes this thread totally unrelated with the original question so I will let it die.

if your content is duplicated i would suggest rewriting it again, especially if it has been on your website for a long period of time. Second : Op.. It depends.. If you are ranking for good terms, I wouldnt touch it. If I want to rank for the other terms.. I will rewrite those terms only but keep the lsi and main keywords the same in order not to lose previous ranking
