Is it hard to get caught stealing websites with HTTrack?

I copied a popular blog website with HTTrack. It comes up in google for many search terms so it's a known brand in it's niche.

I was going to upload the exact copy of the website with a near identical domain, while only changing the affiliate links so I could get all revenue after posting to social media groups.

Obviously not planning on having the website rank anywhere, and if I could get the whole site deindexed, even better.

But after reading certain copyright laws, I'm not sure if it's the best idea. I was going to leave the brand names up exactly how they are presented on the original.

I've definitely heard of people copying landing pages for CPA landing pages etc. so I'm not sure if this only works for the lesser known, unbranded websites, or only greyhat niches.

How likely is it for a website to come after me with copyright claims, and would they really enforce them?

If I just made a similar website, with only the content of the blog post copied, is that even a risk?

the idea is get the theme / template and change to your own stuff .

it not for copy / copy google see it as duplicate content will not be indexed .

You mean change the design and copy the content? That's kind of what I was thinking.

Ok you need stolen postion and authority of domain receveid dmca. It's not work if you simply copy content with httrack the system need you use Better domain metrics and you create all the structure and content.

If it's a ibg brand then chances are they are using some brand protection service and will catch it eventually. From personal experience I would avoid registering a domain using their name.

I had the genius idea of doing that and created a landing page and also used their logo. Was sending paid search traffic to it, but eventually was contacted by their legal team and had to transfer the domain plus pay legal fees which was about $3k.

It's one thing to use their content and leverage their brand, but it's another to impersonate using a domain.

Depends where you live OP. Are you located on third world country where law dont exist? If yes you should be fine, if no i would take additional steps to protect my own ass.

Change the design, font, background, links,favicon,hash of ALL images Google tags and other ad codes and meta data for sure and it can index and rank.
