Edu backlinks have been considered valuable for SEO for years, but with the constant evolution of search engine algorithms, it's important to ask whether they still hold the same weight in blogging today. In this thread, we explore if Edu backlinks continue to be a reliable strategy for improving search engine rankings and increasing organic traffic. Share your thoughts, experiences, or any recent insights on the topic.

Yes, relevant and high-authority backlinks still works.

Yes, .edu backlinks still work if they’re relevant and from trusted sources. They add authority but should be part of a balanced SEO strategy.

Do you have any trusted source site list?

Only quality .edu links matter now; low-quality ones won't help your rankings.

Don’t chase just the .edu tag, chase relevance and traffic combo.

For a new domain, it's best to avoid EDU backlinks at first. Start by building some authority, then go after EDU backlinks later.

They still hold value but indexing them is real pain these days.

Not to mention University moderation.

I'm not familiar with how it works so can't tell.

The best way to get indeed fast is you get a backlinks for a page that is crawled often.

Yes .edu backlinks can be good, but it's important to diversify your backlink strategy with web 2.0 and other types of backlinks as well.

I agree with most of the others above. They definately still work. With any link though I dont think EVERY edu link is good though. Some come from spammy sites which you should avoid if your trying to build a longterm asset. They are in my experience along with .gov links difficult to get. As soon as 1 becomes availble they get spammed to death then the admin finds it and removes that option.

Yes, Edu backlinks still have value, especially when they come from relevant and trusted academic sources.

Yeah, .edu links can still be powerful, but only if they’re coming from real, trusted university sites. These days there are a bunch of sketchy .edu pages selling links, and those don’t really help. So it’s less about the domain zone and more about where exactly the link is coming from.

But in 2025 it's difficult to find real and trustworthy Edu Site. I try to find few site but i wasn't happy with that.
