Hello My All Friends,I Hope All are fine.
So as a Newbie ,i have a question is directory submission or bookmarking still effective for rank a website?
i am working on "Coupons" niche and really there is very very competition.
Also if possible give me some suggestions for this niche :-)
Thanks all in advance !

Hi, I think every link building method still works however not as good as before, I would recommend to use PBN links instead :)

You might wanna use them on you tier 2 instead. For tier 1 always go with high quality backlinks like guest post, pbn, contextual edu, blogpost, etc.

Bookmarking and directories are very important in the process of SEO. The web pages we bookmarked at social bookmarking sites is considered as a quality backlink in the eyes of search engines. The quality backlinks helps to increase blog traffic and Google Page Rank.

Yes they are still effective if you do in right way with quality sites, instead of directory submission try with business listing, they are good for local ranking.

They can only be good for diversity, they cannot on their own help you rank in any way.

Yes, They are still effective as before, make sure with the quality of sites where you do bookmarking. I suggest you to use it for Tier 2.

Not much effective in today's world. Use them as tier 2 links not directly to your Moneysite.

Yup, little bit effective if your site is a quality one.

No idea about social bookmarks, but I doubt those links are very powerful. I assume that you're referring to free directories. These are useless. Decent paid directories do still pass some juice. That said, many have gone to no follow links, and you can almost certainly find better ways to spend your money.

I don't know anything about your niche. If you're truly a newbie, it's not a good idea to focus on something "very very competitive" until you understand what you're doing. Pick something where you have a higher chance of success, learn a few things, then move on to bigger and better things :)

Submitting web directories and getting social bookmarks has nothing to do with ranking in high competitive niche. I've never had any experience with "Coupons" niche but I know that it is quite a competitive one, and I dealt with a few other very competitive niches (essay, social, gambling). High competitive niche means that you are supposed to have around 20-30 or more websites, experiment with different methods of linkbuilding, understanding that 10% success rate would be a great result for you. Don't waste 3-4 months trying to rank your only website with directories and bookmarks, monitoring positions each day and waiting for some rapid boost. With 95% probability it won't happen...
You'd better try some other less competitive niche or, if this niche is very principal for you, make 20 websites, learn how to work with such tools as GSA or Zennoposter, read about working methods (for example, on BHW), define a few strategies that you like and implement them)

I'd stick with Ruvez advice, bookmarks and old fashioned directories won't cut it with a coupons site. In general: While bookmarks and directories may still work, the number of sites it's worth submitting to is really small. Most of the ones still around, after the Pinguin nuke hit these kinds of sites, are just crap waiting to expire.

Bookmarking is ok, just don't overdue it, a couple per page, and make sure it's on high ranking platforms. Shy away from pbn posts, no traffic in them, there's no co-occurence there either, Google is catching on. I would do pbn posts to web 2.0 buffer sites instead IF you wanted to still use them.

Yes, It is effective as a supportive backlink. You have them with automated software.

not effective at all for tier 1. it even hurt my rankings. do it for t2 if you really want to

High quality, relevant directories have a use. Bookmarks carry very little weight.

Both are still highly useful if you use the right ones and use them right.
