Is blogging still worth it in 2026,?

Do you Think that social platforms like TikTok and Instagram replacing it?
Social platforms like TikTok and Instagram have certainly transformed the way people consume content and connect with others, but whether they are replacing traditional platforms or services depends on the context.

No TikTok and Instagram aren’t replacing Google SEO they’re siphoning discovery traffic, while Google still dominates intent based searches where people are ready to act or buy.

If you write real experience, solve real problems, and build trust, blogging still makes money.
If you just post AI-rewritten content for ads, it’s mostly dead.

for anything detailed blogging is still very important. People consider blogs with much more authority than social media posts because only experts are allowed to rank in top 10 google results whereas instagram tiktok will have anyone sharing content.

Yes, TikTok and Instagram are gaining dominance but blogs remain valuable for detailed content and SEO traffic

Yes, blogging is still worth it in 2026. Quality content, SEO, and niche authority still drive long-term traffic, trust, and income opportunities.

For the long term, no. You need to understand the fundamental diffrence between social media and search engines.

A website or blog aims to get traffic from search engines, which is very different from social media traffic. The problem with social media is that your content has a very short lifespan, which forces you into mass content production. Basically, you end up on a hamster wheel producing low quality, recycled content until you burn out. You can’t even take days off because your traffic will drop pretty quickly.

It’s just the nature of social media because it is scroll based wall of latest feed, not search based like search engines. People don’t use social media to search for things; they just check what’s new, scroll for a bit, and then leave. This is very different from search engines like Google or Bing, where people are actively searching for things every day.

You can still use social media but just to promote your blog, and not to get the main traffic becasue it's just not susteianble long term. You want "evergreen strategy" and social media is not it. It's basicly useless.

blogging isn’t dead, lazy blogging is. socials push attention, blogs convert and compound. platforms rent traffic, sites own it. use socials as feeders, blog as asset. replacement talk is cope.

Yes TikTok and Instagram are increasingly dominating content discovery and engagement yet blogs and websites still hold value for in depth information and SEO driven traffic

Yep, pretty much. With a website/blog and your email subscription system, you own the platform, you control the content, design, monetization, unlike social media where you are just renting, owning nothing. Business owner vs street artist :)

Yet they still are image and video content. Sometimes you need text or a bunch of images. The other day I was looking for list of haircuts and there A LOT of blogs. All of them are badly made, but still.

Social media is taking people away from the search engines but most people are also spending a lot of time on their mobile phones. The issue is not really blogging vs social media but text vs video content. Most people are becoming lazy and preferring image or video content. So, blogging may stay less effective until AI evolves to make text more user-friendly.
can't agree more, but video is another game. Blogging costs way less than video. For long-term gains, I'd still recommend focusing on blogging.

I don't think it's taking away people, since social media can't be a replacement for search engines. They are fundamentaly two diffrent things .It's just another part of the huge internet, that's all. And tbh, "social media" is not even an appropriate name, because the actual social media is the internet itself.

Yes, blogging is still worth it in 2026 — it’s just changed. Social platforms are great for discovery, but blogs are still best for search traffic, depth, and long-term ownership. The most effective approach now is using short-form content to bring people in, then letting your blog do the heavy lifting for trust and conversions.

TikTok and Instagram are increasingly dominating content discovery in many niches yet blogs and websites still hold value for detailed information and SEO-driven traffic

That's true. Video works great for visual content, walkthroughs, summaries, etc. but we can't skim through content at a glance. Text, on the other hand, is great for informational content as we can skim through multiple paragraphs or simply search for a keyword and read what we want instead of watching complete video. Some blogging friendly niches might grow over time as users find text easy to find answers and save time. At present, both text and video share same niches as we don't have an overwhelming demand for certain types of content.

For me yes, still worth it, but one should diversify the source of traffic, and also diversify the monetization (not only from Ads)

I think blogging will still be going strong in 2026! Social media might shorten our attention spans, but there's always going to be a place for longer, more thoughtful content. People still love diving deep into blogs when they want to really connect with something.
