is backlinks really important?

Backlinks are the key factors in creating trust and authority of a website. But does it really helps in ranking. Well google said that backlinks are not that important but i think google just misleads us and backlinks are still one of the major ranking factors. Yes i agree that quality links are important and not the spammy ones. But i find some sites which are ranking on the first page of the google but dont have any or very few backlinks. What are your thoughts on this?

Might be the case that the backlinks they are using don't appear in the tools. (Some PBNs block moz bot and ahref bot)

Yeah it is still the most important. If you do a deep dive on how indexers work, there is a backlinking factor as well.

Backlinks are very important. But if I have one piece of advice to give you before you embark on the quest for backlinks in all directions. Look for quality backlinks, see what your competitors are doing... etc... Don't rush just any backlink

Content is king. Backlinks come second but also have their use.

Yes they matter, but if you're really an SEO guy, you'll get traffic without building links, but a holistic approach is the best if you have a budget; once you start making some money, you can invest in backlinks, here are some sites that I started recently (no link building, US traffic):

Google does mislead!

If you start a website and slowly build quality links you will see how the algorithm will increase your rank. Problem people have is their content doesn't look reference worthy so when dozens of garbo links are built it's a no brainer for Google.

which way you find that specific websites don't have any back-link. owner can be make a lot back-link also that web site can be huge traffic.
