I have been an Ebay seller for a few years, but I am wondering if I should switch over to selling on Amazon instead. Now would be the perfect time to do so because recently, my paypal account went negative and I heard that Amazon can pay you in methods apart from paypal, however if need be, I can create a new paypal account with different details. I've also had a fair share of disputes and chargebacks by selling on ebay/paypal and I'm wondering if the same stuff happens on Amazon or how so it is different. So my questions are: Should I switch to selling on Amazon? Is the transition smooth? Are selling prices and fees better? In what ways does Amazon pay its sellers their money? How do the disputes/chargebacks on Amazon work in comparison to selling with ebay/paypal? Also, feel free to add any other information/tips! Thanks :)

In my opinion if Amazon gave the sellers the money immediately when the item sold, ebay would be in serious trouble.

In my little experience with Amazon.......

AMAZON PROS
-More experienced online shoppers???
-I haven't got a charge back yet. But only 50 sales so far........
-You don't have to CREATE A LISTING for 99% of products, making listing items a much faster process to me.
-Exposure seems to be more fair.
-Money can be sent directly to your bank account.(its what I do)
-Less sellers because its hard to dropship
-Buyers tend to leave feedback more often
-Easier to find a niche because there are less products listed.
-Prices are set, no worry of no enough bids to get what a item is worth.

AMAZON CONS
-No auction option, only Buy It Now.
-You have to wait 2 weeks to get your money until you get alot of feedback
-You gotta provide a tracking number for when you ship Amazon to send you the payments you receive
-The 2nd con basically makes dropshipping impossible for most people unless you have tons of cash in reserve to pay your dropshipper immediately.
-No Terapeak type service available to see whats selling

EBAY PROS
-Get your money immediately
-Items get TONS of exposure to potential buyers
-Can sell items with no worries that you can't even list on AMAZON, for example, OTTERBOX, OAKLEY, LIFEPROOF
-Can use stealth accounts to bump up the prices on your auctions.....
-TERAPEAK
-HAMMERTAP

EBAY CONS
-More inexperienced online shoppers???
-PAYPAL is a bitch to deal with.
-Fees Fees Fees
-A lot of SCAMMERS, buyers AND sellers.
-Alot of competition makes the profit margin smaller on almost everything.
-Buyers RARELY leave feedback.

And probably some more things I cant think of but you get the jest of it.

Few corrections:
1. You dont need to provide a tracking number. But if you dont your rank will go down as a seller. Most sellers just make up a fake tracking # when one is not available. If you get caught doing that amazon will suspend you. So do it when you know its 100% going to get delivered.

2. Dropshipping works so long as you setup right terms with dropshipper (invoice billing) or have credit cards to back it up.

3. You can see what is selling by paying close track to SALES RANKS.

Most companies that I've seen that sold on both eBay and Amazon were selling a lot more on Amazon than they were on eBay. However, Amazon customers are less forgiving about something being messed up -- they expect everything to be perfect, and delivery to be fast. I think selling used items would probably be better on eBay, while new items on Amazon would be better. However, if you could do both, then do both.

i prefer ebay over amazon, just always preferred it.

Both are great for selling if you got hot items and competitive prices, however I find Amazon buyers willing to spend more money comparing to eBay.

Both are good for making money. Amazon will have higher return ratio due to ease of returning. You will run into more competition of sellers competing for the "buy box". But throw up your listings and see what happens. With good volume amazon will move your withdrawals to weekly instead of bi-weekly. Watch your "ODR" or Order Defect Rate, Amazon will suspend your account in a flash if it gets too high.

I am 100% drop ship on ebay and Amazon and do about $500K revenue a month so it is possible.

i personally think amazon is way harder to do stealth they are way more cruel

I dont understand why some of you on these forums are considering splitting the sheets?

Why not use Ebay and Amazon?

I use Amazon FBA so I don't really need to touch any of the products or need to ship anything. That is a big advantage in my opinion. You just need to make sure your products have enough margin to handle all the expenses.

I prefer Amazon. Ebay is also great but Amazon is way better.

If you want anything Amazon stealth related from new accounts ,or beating suspension, even amazon account feedback you should visit Axtron .org they litterally have everything a Amazon seller needs there. Its definitely worth checking out.

it depending on what you are selling. Sometimes I sold some stuff on amazon with 40-50% more profit than on ebay!!
ebay got too many people from all over the world. especially, a lot of Chinese seller ( amazon got them also but lesser). I think It comes all to what you want to sell and your target groups. Both have con and pro thou :D

How about dropshipping from China? Is this working? I've seen on different other forums that buyers are annoyed by the fact that it takes too long for their order to arrive from China, even if you specify the real delivery term.

I currently sell on both - when Ebay/Paypal shut you down at least you get your money in 90 days. I've had numerous stealth Amazon accounts literally deleted and you never see your money.

How I see it, eBay is the gateway in and Amazon is the big leagues.

Personally, I prefer Amazon as the buyers are more targeted, willing to spend more cash and leave feedback (good or bad depends on your items).

Gonna start Amazon marketing soon!
