This is my first IM Journey. I have spent the last few months reading and digesting methods of making money online, so much so that it has become a marked daily habit reading journeys and learning from other successful marketers. Now I know the only thing left to do is to take action.

My main aims in this thread is to learn and document the process of making an Amazon affiliate site.

I am currently researching dropshipping, but will leave that on the backburner until I fully learn and engross myself in the process of making an affiliate site.

I am not much concerned with making money at present, more I want to know how to do the process so I can learn from my mistakes, take inspiration/advice off others and do my bit to give back to the community regarding my experiences.

Also having a thread keeps me accountable in my actions and can be utilised to act as a discipline to push through the inevitable challenges/mistakes/problems that will be incurred.

I will hopefully be able to update this thread once every few days. I am in Law school at the minute and am busy at that so updates may be sparse at times. Will definitely try to keep up with this once a week. I see IM as a way to break free from the shackles of the 9-5 life and live life on your own terms. This is a long term goal I hope to achieve.

And this is just the beginning.

ACTION TO DATE

- Done some keyword research - found low competition keywords relating to my niche on KW Finder and MOZ bar

- Set up a wordpress site and bought an expired domain

- Purchased hosting

- Bought woocommerce plugin and set up a homepage with logo etc

- Followed a youtube tutorial to build a wordpress site. Bear in mind I am completely new to this so it has taken me a while to get my head around it.

Next Steps

- Finish building and importing products to my site.

- Review keyword research for low competition keywords

- Begin to outsource content creation for site

I am hopeful to work on this for around 5-10 hours a week and will hopefully create more time as I delve further into this journey

How will the site be monetised? Are you building an ecommerce store with affiliate links to Amazon?

It is an ecommerce site with affiliate links to Amazon on each product.
The woocommerce plugin automatically imports the products.

UPDATE:
I have found a number of low competition keywords and am in the process of forming my anchor article which will provide an overview of the topic with comparison tables on each of the product.

My keyword process involved using the mozbar, analysing competition through semrush and making sure there were around 5,000 monthly searches

I have no idea if i am doing things right.

Do i target my one specific keyword throughout the article? Also it is a longtail keyword.

Is there anyone that can help me decide whether this keyword is viable and I can pm them?

All the best for Amazon Affiliate journey!! Keep us updated..

Got a few keywords with 35 difficulty and more longtail ones with 24.
As a new site etc is it possible to rank for these?

no this are not easy ......... you can do it but don't think they would rank without work and backlinks.

Hello fellow Irishman!

You sound like you are where I was a few months back. I'm going to guess you looked at Tyler Moore videos on Youtube? That's where I started anyway when trying to build a website a couple of years ago. But then I found black hat and from there I found this course:

https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/u...to-building-amazon-affiliate-sites-20.896169/

I can recommend it as a newb, tons and tons of info there. I'm not actually building an affiliate but I learned so much from it about IM/Websites in general and it was also the first place I heard of Thrive Themes which makes designing websites enjoyable, and believe me I never thought I'd ever say that.

I've watched nearly all the videos on Shree's course twice and I will need to look at some of them again to tidy up some technical/speed things on my latest website.

Good luck!
