iPhone 4G - Making Money With New Apps

I went ahead and bought the guide, its really sweet.Hope to start making $$ soon

try phonsai you can mobilize any kind of content by using this platform. Most interesting part is you can get application directly via sms to your Iphone :) The icon of your application is on your iphone as any other applications.
This can be a great tool to make adult contents. So far apple do not allow adult application in his App store. But with this tool you don't need App store :) hehe

You also have to remember about piracy depending on how big your project gets, however I believe Ap*le apps can be displayed through ipho*nes, ipa*ds, and new ipo*ds so the market is large if you can make something useful.

I recommend taking the iphone4 flash and making a quick flashlight app for $.99 will start selling immediately.

So the sites are for people who dont own macs and want to script Apps for the iphone?

Can anyone please re-up this? It sounds really interesting and I'd love to give it as read. Thanks and rep will be given.

Honestly programming for the iphone is kind of a pain compared to programming for the android os. Recently android took the market share from iphone so its looking to become bigger soon anyway. I would just start learning how to program for android phones if your serious about this kind of thing.

Apple still dominates market share in the mobile phone market although android has been making gains(they took some market share, they didnt take "the" market share), the moble phone share doesnt take into account the millions and millions of ipod touchs and ipads. I dont see any other OS app store coming close to apple within the next few years, so I'd have to disagree with focusing on android programming...

GUIZE

I recently thought of getting into this, I have browsed the net and my head for ideas, and I have some great ones that would probably sell many for 0.99$.

For those interested in this , check out http://www.airplaysdk.com/

Airplay SDK supports single-click deployment to all of the following operating systems:

  • iPhone OS
  • Android
  • Samsung Bada
  • Symbian
  • Windows Mobile
  • BREW
  • Palm/HP webOS
  • Maemo
It is easy to install, I am using it with visual studio 2010. Was trying to get it to work with devc++(my favourite IDE) but no luck. Anyway got it up and running within a few minutes. Works with windows7 64bit.

It has extensive documentation, and example code, well populated forum. It also can import 3D models from the popular 3D software ( I don't dable in 3D)

An "indie" license is free with iphone only deployment. If you want all devices, you gotta fork up.

I don't know much about actually uploading an app to the itunes, i don't know how easy it is with win7, I read people were having problems , then that itunes relaxed the requirements meaning airplay/win7 ppl could upload no problem , then I read people were borrowing macs to upload their app... Anyway I don't know much about this issue, maybe it's not a problem anymore.

Either way, just check out the site, it has excellent features, and free for indie developer:)

I'm hoping to make 3-4 apps, sell for 0.99$ (seems to be the going rate) and hope for a few hundred downloads , at least.

I wouldn't give away free apps with ads, as a user myself, I would just rather pay than have crappy ads on my app.

There is def a lot of money to be made in this market, I recently watched a youtube vid where some guy made over 1.5million from a game he developed. Obviously that's rare, but if I got 0.1% of that i'd be happy !

I think games make the most money, but applications seem easier to code. Ima start with applications first anyway, that appeal to a wide audience.

The biggest bummers of the app scene is you need to cough up 99$ to get an itunes dev thing to upload your apps. Also the fact that your app may be rejected(there are guidelines, everyone should check it out) and also that the market is split into 5 regions, you gotta get over 250$ worth of earnings in each region before you get paid for that region. That sucks but I'm guessing most apps will reach this threshold in at least one region.

Anyway, sorry for the lack of structure in my post. A app dev section with a BHW spin on this forum would be great ;)

If I do get through all the stages and get an app in itunes, I will write a detailed post, hopefully I could contribute something to the forum for a change...
