You are missing the point here, those brands grew to 1mil+ because they already had a lot of presence offline and online. When they started on ig people started following them by word of mouth . They probably spend 10x on ads of what op has spent till now. Besides growing in past for say 2014 was a hell lot easier than today April 2017. You can't grow a new account to a mil in a year (if you are new to ig and can't provide powerful likes) period !!
