Hello everyone!

I wanted to share an incident about how people in India are being scammed by advertisers claiming they can get an iPhone for just $50 via Amazon.

At first, I was curious and wanted to see how it worked. I came across an advertisement on Instagram saying that I could get a brand-new iPhone for $50, but it required an advance payment of INR 500 for booking. Once the money was paid, the scammer sent me an invoice claiming that the iPhone had been ordered (trust me, the invoice was terribly edited! :D).

But he always maintained a very confident tone, insisting he was legitimate. He told me to wait for two days. I waited, and today he messaged me asking if the Amazon delivery person had arrived with the product. I said no. He seemed shocked and asked me to wait for two minutes. Then, he came back saying I needed to pay around INR 2500 for "taxes." He even promised that the amount would be refunded in two minutes after payment.

I simply said, “Better luck next time,” and wished him goodbye.

I’m sharing this because the iPhone is often seen as a status symbol, and many people dream of owning one. This scam targets people who may not be financially well-off enough to afford an iPhone.

If you have friends or family in India, please share this with them so they can be warned and make sure others are aware of such scams.
