Instagram Follower Count???

So I'm doing pretty well with getting followers on Instagram. I'm getting around 100+ a day. I'm doing so well that I decided to unfollow a bunch of people and then I realized something strange. My account says that I'm following 8 people even though I've unfollowed everyone. What the hell is this? I can't see the people but I'm following them somehow. Is this some weird thing in IG algorithm? It has been like that for a few days. ANY help here would be incredibly great.
