My advice: Find a local, small host (unless you plan to be really big). Make sure their feature set and pricing is something you're comfortable with, enjoy helping a local small business, and be done with it.

If you are not going to offer international services, the best thing is to select one from your country.
Otherwise, select something like Hostinger, you can get a host service for 2-3 years for ~150$ but u can host many websites using it, also SMTP available
