Hello all.

I posted this on another "make money online" forum earlier this year. They seemed to enjoy it, I think you guys will too. Since I'm lazy I will just copy and paste instead of rewriting...

Ok, its very very simple. I've just recently started doing this a few months ago I can tell you it works GREAT for some niches, not all, you'll just have to test it yourself.

THE METHOD

Instead of just using a regular download button, I use a very simple 3 tiered pricing plan. One tier is moderately priced ($27-97) and the other is a bit more expensive ($98 - 497) and the other is FREE. Obviously the "FREE" tier is the money link. I've tracked all 3 links to see what people clicked, from my experience less than 3% of my traffic clicks one of the "Paid" options the other 97% choose free.

I got the idea from a book I read. It's a physiological thing, think about it. When faced with paying $97+ or paying nothing, the hurdle (our offers) you have to jump isn't as bad as the $97 you would other wise have to "pay". So you're more likely to complete the offer. I hope this make sense.

Anyways as long as I can help at least one person I'm happy. Try it out on a few niches and post your results.

I already know this method but thanks for sharing.

It can improve conversion rate.

I love psychology and I love sales, so I really love the psychology of sales - and this is a prime example of how you can use psychology in sales.

Here's another useful bit of information, along the same lines:

When it comes to tiered pricing plans, there are some people who will always go for the most expensive plan - their assumption being that the more expensive something is the better it is. This is information is nothing new though.

The curious thing however, is that in experiments, if the price of the highest tier is doubled, trebled, quadrupled or even increase tenfold, there still people who will pay for that tier.

There are instances of companies who now add a fourth, overpriced tier, purely to catch those people.

Very old trick but thanks for sharing, I'm sure will help people who don't know that trick yet.

Not new trick but it's nice way to try and pls report ur result :)

I think I may know your website now. One of my competitors does this, and it was the first time I ever saw it.

This is how luxury brands thrive. The quality can definitely be higher, but they're still charging you x10 the cash it cost them to build it. It's a great arena to be in if you create something people really want (or my personal favorite, just use famous 'influencers' to create demand)

Psychology can do a lot of work for us, internet marketers. Thanks for sharing.

I like this method, I actually use it in quite a few CPA lead gen campaigns. Even though essentially I get paid for a consumer signing up for free, I still like to use it, because it boosts CTRs and from my testing improves CVRs vs not using tiered buttons. This is a very simple strategy every should test.

This definitely works, in some instances better than others. No wonder almost every game app has a way of unlocking free coins/game currency/premium access simply by watching video ads.

What do you link on the other buttons? Is there a way we could actually profit from them?

Cool psychology strategy, might use it in the future, thanks for share.

This is a twist on an old marketing strategy where you post three different paid options: one cheap without options, one loaded with options but priced way too high, and one with a "discount" price + many options, the discount price will be chosen more than the other two even though it costs more than the cheapest option. The same idea applies here, and yes: it really works.
