Yes It Looks Proffessional. If You add Video also it will looks more Better. (Try to Use on Press release sites , Blogs and PDF and DOC )
Build website for human and every other thing can be added to it. If there is no need for an image then f*** it.
Is not for SEO but usability 2 different things. And you should optimize for your users first, then for search engines.
Yes, Images can help with SEO. Images are likely to catch page viewer's attention, and keep them on the page longer. Also, attention catching images may help viewers remember your site and return. Images can also offer backlinks to your site. They can improve your search ranking even if you give them a good file name. Plus they help the page or article look more appealing over-all.
Images it is part of content on your site, but not a necessary one. I saw pages with plain text ranking on first page. Also I see that plain HTML considered better for crawling and rank better that WP sites because there is too many duplicate or useless pages on this kind of sites that loosing your SEO juice. Also .php files may contain viruses so HTML is considered a safer environment for users and Google loves it.
