I noticed you list PPE and goggles both on there to use, at 90,000 local monthly searches? How would you go about ranking these keywords with so much competition? Maybe I am close minded also, but seeing the 90k searches id automaticly look over them. Maybe you can tell me how i could rank a keyword like that?

Search -> Amazon Treasure Chest in the Download section.
It comes with Video tutorial + Mega list of keywords. You can skip the tutorial, its pretty basic but the important part is the Mega list of keywords.
I hope this help you! :)

Easy KWs are everywhere. If you just step up your backlinking a little bit you don't have to scour the earth for KWs no one is going after. It literally becomes a task of just sorting them by what you think is worth most of your time.

You guys/gals need to make sure you're not looking at the Adwords competition and using that as difficulty to rank. Google's not going to tell you how hard it is to rank something.

90k searches doesn't automatically mean its a tough KW to rank, even though higher searches usually comes with higher competition.

To tell the competition of the top 10, first check all sites' on-page to see if the page is even trying to optimize for it. Then use a few backlink checkers to see the links they have going to that page and see if you can out-do that.

Any KW tool that spits out some competition rating has some room for error, so you really should know what metrics they're using to give you that competition rating. Then double check manually the top 10 sites anyway before diving into making a site around it.

In mega niches, you can get traffic off the second page because a lot of hype and national brands are on the front page. If people in those niches wanted the national brands they will search for that national brand by name. This opens up the lower rankings to smaller competitors.

And you rank a kw like that the same way your rank any keyword, quality content and intelligent backlinking with social activity.

Personally I never worry abut competition unless it is over 30 million. I can beat 30 million with good on page and smart backlinking.

I use Traffic Travis to check keywords out. Ive never seen anything over 5k local monthlys that I thought I could really crack though, although I am very timid as of right now. I am still pretty new to IM, just started in Dec, and am working on a limited budget until I start to turn some cash because I was just laid off my job in mid January. I am thinking that picking up SB may be well worth it, so I would pretty much be trying to rank sites with web 2.0s and then blasting them. I dont really have a ton of extra cash for services as of right now, most of the ones ive tried on here didnt seem to help very much as most of the links end up being no follows and never showing up.

I hear your pain :)

1. As other(s) said, there are tons of higher value lower traffic items, and they don't have real competition, as everyone and their brother are searching for 1k min. exact match US.

2. Can think of things that cannot be easily found locally at Wallmart. They would sell well with Amazon.

3. If totally mind-blocked, can get SEMRush (try the free version...). It tells you what keywords the sites in the niche are ranking for. This way, you will find the 'lateral' keywords, the ones you never thought about.

I think the overall point is one need not "think hard" but know the tools to use.

Here are my suggestion. This is a quick way to find desperate niche.
Go to google keyword tool, enter search terms like: "How to get rid of","How to cure"

You will get hundreds of niche ideas like "How to get rid of bed bugs, hot get get rid of smelly feet" etc"

Now take those niche ideas and do some keyword research, for example, enter how to get rid of bed bugs again into the search term, and find a good keyword for it.

You can sell amazon products like bed bugs sprayer etc with this niche.

Ultimate Niche Finder looks like a good time saving tool for kw research. Might need to find a discount for this software somewhere.

I use MNF primarily for EMD locating.

Discount? Use your own clickbank account.

Choose the keywords you thought best describe your services business. Choose keyphrases instead of a single word as per your niche. Choose the keywords on the basis of high search volume and low competition.

Hi blackieman,

We do not approve of this. We've worked very hard to build UNF and we're still working very hard to maintain it.

It's only $49.25 with a 50% off BHW discount and you get free lifetime uNiches.com subscription worth $99.95/mo without discount.

It's already too cheap IMO.

Good point. The script is very cheap and very good already.

I guess you are like me OP, this is one reaso that I haven't got into SEO, and when you finally put everything together and get the site to rank on top for 2 days, you will see a big policy change from google or a competition overtaking you, and then its another 3 months work for 2 days of top position. SEO really sucks for me.

If you are doing Amazon sites just pick a product that has low comp. The search volume does not really matter simply because if the person is searching for a brand name + model number they have already decided to buy. You just need to give them the affiliate link to click on.

That's me right there. I don't like "shopping", I like BUYING, but not buying for buyings sake, but quickly finding the best value for the dollar, get all the details right up front, understand the entirety of the transaction completely, decide that I trust the Seller, then BAM pull the trigger, make the purchase and move on to something else.

Don't jack me around. Don't obfuscate the details. Don't use 10 words when 5 will do, and I'll buy and I mean right now. Not next week, not tomorrow and not in one hour, but NOW.

Or not. Most of the time not: because most Vendors/Sellers are inordinately stupid. They tell me what THEY want me to know, present their product how THEY want it presented etc... and forget one critical detail which is that I'm the guy with the money, and I can take that money anywhere and at any time. Also, for most of the products online, I can probably find a better deal at Home Depot if I'm willing to drive down there and try to extract meaningful information from the knuckle-dragging retards they have working there for $7.00 an hour.

That's one advantage IM has over brick & mortar, and unfortunately those Home Depot employees set such a low standard that most IM'ers can't past their limited horizon. Go to NewEgg and see how online sales & searches should be done, and note that there's a LOT of room for improvement there. NE is by no means perfect, and some of their policies are straight-up stupid. Even the "best" is inadequate.

You want low competition? There's low competition. There's almost no one that has a clue on how to sell something to a serious Buyer that doesn't want to waste time screwing around with someone too stupid to know how to sell their own product.

And maybe that's where you have taken a wrong turn. It's not about picking the right keyword, it's making the right connection to the people trying to give you their money.

How this translates to you in your immediate situatin, IDK. But one thing I thought when reading about your issues with "wood chippers" is that it's also called a "chipper shredder". Maybe an alternative word than what you are aware of is where your money can come from. I use those types of tools, and am around them constantly. If you knew me better, and the people like me better, you might also know the words we use and then have some means of servicing our needs. Trying to imagine making a connection to "us" (and our money) is doomed to failure. Make the connection to US, and the money will come about as a natural result.

ultimate niche finder is simply a great tool.
but i use market samurai. you won't believe that the same condition was with me while i started. but gradually when i find these tools i was really amazed to see the result.you can try them out.
remember that finding these niches manually is tough so don't get so much frustrated. start with new hope dude.
thanks

I think majority of the people fail at it because they don't actually know what they are after.

And I think it's the same with you OP. Let me introduce myself - I'm a keyword researcher at Fiverr and my gig has received more than 600 Positive Feedback - More than 800 sales till date.

Here is something I wish to share:

First of all, even before starting a keyword research, you gotta be sure with the niche you wish to get into. And whether the niche of your choice is profitable. Otherwise, trust me, there is no need to waste time in researching for any God Damn niche you can get your hands to.

So what's the profitable niche? - This is a very subjective point and every mouth has it's own words to describe it. But for me - A profitable niche is

1. where you see at least 2 to 3 products with at least 80 to 100 Gravity - If You're Promoting ClickBank Products.

2. where you see a lot of information OR people with problems on the web - If You're Monetizing Your Site With Adsense.

3. where you see many >$100 Products and at least 10 or more 5Star Products - If You're Selling Amazon Products.

I don't look beyond this - as thinking anything beyond this won't get you anywhere and make you more confused.

Now comes the Keyword Research Part

Just enter any seed keyword of your niche in the Google's External Keyword Research Tool. Filter them with >1000 US Local Exact Monthly Search Volume and <3000 or <4000 US Local Exact Monthly Search Volume.

Here comes something you will need Money for - Market Samurai - But you get to try it for 40 days for free - and if you're smart and access BHW often, you'd know how to use it for free for life.

Go ahead and try each keyword in Market Samurai for - Top 10 SEO Competition Analysis. Guys this is the only competition you have. Don't stress on the number of competing web pages on Google with "Keyword". This has really nothing to do with Competition. The only competition you have is a list of those Top 10 Websites for your keyword. If you believe there are at least 2 or more sites that you can outrank - Go For That Keyword.

The only factors you have to analyze are - PR, Backlinks, Y! Directory Listing, KW in Title and KW in URL. Analyzing more options is good, but if you're new, you might get confused and never be able to select any keyword. So avoid selecting more options if you're new.

That's it - Try to buy Exact Match Domain or add some prefix or suffix and buy it. In my opinion, you will have no problem getting your site on 1st page of Google within a month.

I hope some of the things I have written above may help.

Thanks,
Sunny

-Keywords no one has ever heard of
-Less than 10 searches

You don't see the correlation there? lol

keyword research isn't hard, it's just exhaustive. Punch in your seed keywords, seed what comes up for recommendations. take that list, run it through a synonym list, them check the terms with synonyms used. then add it onto the last list. then go back and start swapping the orders or words in the search phrases around into new orders. Now run that through the keyword tool. Take all the new recommended keywords and start all over again. Go look at the actual search results and poke around abit, coem up with some more ideas and punch them into the keyword tool. Eventually you'll have all kinds of keywords and keyphrases banked up for your niche.
