If you are doing Amazon sites just pick a product that has low comp. The search volume does not really matter simply because if the person is searching for a brand name + model number they have already decided to buy. You just need to give them the affiliate link to click on.
That's me right there. I don't like "shopping", I like BUYING, but not buying for buyings sake, but quickly finding the best value for the dollar, get all the details right up front, understand the entirety of the transaction completely, decide that I trust the Seller, then BAM pull the trigger, make the purchase and move on to something else.
Don't jack me around. Don't obfuscate the details. Don't use 10 words when 5 will do, and I'll buy and I mean right now. Not next week, not tomorrow and not in one hour, but NOW.
Or not. Most of the time
not: because most Vendors/Sellers are inordinately stupid. They tell me what THEY want me to know, present their product how THEY want it presented etc... and forget one critical detail which is that I'm the guy with the money, and I can take that money anywhere and at any time. Also, for most of the products online, I can probably find a better deal at Home Depot if I'm willing to drive down there and try to extract meaningful information from the knuckle-dragging retards they have working there for $7.00 an hour.
That's one advantage IM has over brick & mortar, and unfortunately those Home Depot employees set such a low standard that most IM'ers can't past their limited horizon. Go to NewEgg and see how online sales & searches should be done, and note that there's a LOT of room for improvement there. NE is by no means perfect, and some of their policies are straight-up stupid. Even the "best" is inadequate.
You want low competition? There's low competition. There's almost no one that has a clue on how to sell something to a serious Buyer that doesn't want to waste time screwing around with someone too stupid to know how to sell their own product.
And maybe that's where you have taken a wrong turn. It's not about picking the right keyword, it's making the right connection to the people trying to give you their money.
How this translates to you in your immediate situatin, IDK. But one thing I thought when reading about your issues with "wood chippers" is that it's also called a "chipper shredder". Maybe an alternative word than what you are aware of is where your money can come from. I use those types of tools, and am around them constantly. If you knew me better, and the people like me better, you might also know the words we use and then have some means of servicing our needs. Trying to imagine making a connection to "us" (and our money) is doomed to failure. Make the connection to US, and the money will come about as a natural result.
