So today was the day I was supposed to get my splint and stitches removed. I went in, they checked everything and my wrist looked normal, so they removed my stitches and told me I needed to exercise my wrist (as everything is stiff at the moment). They also informed me that the mass in my wrist actually wasn't a ganglion cyst according to the lab results, but a benign tumour called "juxta articular myxoma".
So I leave the office and do the exercises I was instructed to do. About 30 minutes later after doing the exercises, I get dizzy out of no where. I tried lifting up my wrist, which felt unusually heavy, and I saw this (sorry about the blurry photo):
(For those of you wondering, my wrist is thin from the splint)
It was the worst pain of my life and it gave new meaning to the term "gut-wrenching pain", but it was about to get worse!
So I go back to the surgeon's office and I get wheel-chaired to one of the rooms as I was about to pass out (I'm not exaggerating, it was that bad). The surgeon's doctor (assistant) comes in and says, "Whoa! I've never seen that happen before". He begins pressing on it to see if he can get it to go down, but to no avail.
He beckons the surgeon over and the surgeon says, "Whoa, what happened!". After a few minutes, he extrapolated that my wrist didn't respond well to the exercises, so one or more blood vessels must have burst and caused haematoma, which is a collection of blood like a bruise, in the surgical site. Now I'm back in a splint.
