The technical side of site building is, as you will see from the question, not my strong point.

Once I get the domain (got from name.com), what do I do next?

I understand that I need to host it, I'm going with hostgator (is this ok?)

What are the next steps? Can someone please either give me either step-by-step, or point me to a site that can help.

How do I add the wp plugin for me to be able to start adding content to the site?

Step 1: buy hosting (hostgator is good). They'll give you a set of "nameservers"

Step 2: buy domain and put those nameservers in your domain's settings

Now your domain is linked to your hosting.

Step 3: log in to your hostings cpaanel and find fantastico or quick install script. From there select wordpress and install it. After the installation process is comeplete, you'll be assigned an ID and password for logging into your new wordpress site.

Google "install and setup wordpress" and/or similar terms for more info.

    Hameem, you are great.
    Have a nice day.
Although I have made many wordpress sites, I am just responsible for the simplest part.

Do a search for free WP themes and find one that suites your niche...

Why do you want to create a WP site?

If the aim is to write content for adsense, I believe writing articles for other blog owners will be much more profitable initially.

LakeForest, my goal isn't to write content for adsense. It's to build an e-mail list for a specific niche, I was told that using WP would be a good/easier way of going about doing this.

Hostgator is pretty awesome and it is not even very difficult, so i can see the method is already discussed above.

Hostgator is a great option. I'd suggest you to initially start with writing for other bloggers.

    Cheers :)
