Main concern of White HAT is Unique High Quality content. As CONTENT is the king. Many people of I heard got ranked just for having High Quality content with on page SEO like META Descriptions and TAGS.
Also, SEO is changing and one can't say that he/she is FULL FLEDGED GURU and never will need more knowledge. You will be always STUDENT. The one thing taht never changes that Unique Content will always help you to win Competition.
