Well, there was no claim to know much.
I was a Bing Assessor for about 5 minutes for LionBridge, or Appen, I don't even remember, so I'm assuming OP did something similar. It was horrible work and there isn't really anything you couldn't figure out by working at that job.
Here's the key, "Don't Build Crap Sites".
Take the time to make them look good, buy, yes 'buy', a Premium theme or join a club. It has little to do with ratios or content to an extent. If you making a site for humans, beauty goes a long way.
