downloading 2x 1GB files, taking forever.
googled and everything i found is telling me to go to windows download monitor to cancel. where the fuck is the damn thing? there is just nothing in my windows 10 control panel thats named something like that.

i shut down firefox, shut down windows explorer, even rebooted my computer, and they still come back downloading!

Well, if it's taking forever then i don't think it's your computer. It's more likely your internet connection.
Solution = Get a better internet connection

i wondered about that too.. but i have comcast, usually not slow..
 
What are you trying to download? From which website? uploaded ? nitroflare like that?
 
finally found where to stop/cancel from within firefox
 
Google speed-test, it will tell you how fast/slow your internet is. I used to have 50mb/s on Spectrum and some days it would be like 11kb/s so I had to call them up to ask them to stop being so shit and then MAYBE they would fix it.
American internet companies are a joke.
 
its not your computer's issue, its your internet who is slow. lol

my download speed is just 8.8 Mbps which is the average USA speed according to CNN.
is that very slow?

thats about 1 mb/s. 1GB should take 1000s=16min. so i think its nvidia thats slow?
 
Open task manager using ctr+alt+del
1. click process tab and end it
2. Go to startup tab and disable startup applications which causing you trouble.

Explore the task manager

my modem is 195 Mbps, router is 54Mbps, both higher than 8.8, so they are not the problem. computer lenovo was bought half a year ago, intel core i3, 6GB RAM. i have to say lenovo is the worst.

when your internet is so slow that hidden windows updates are taking all of it
