The biggest success to my account has been long-term engagement. This means that my posts essentially would not die until after about a day, but even then they would be getting some pretty consistent engagement, tons of people would constantly be interacting with them.
Now, as of recently, I’ve noticed that my posts perform well within the first 1-6 hours, then they completely fade out. This has been detrimental to my account. Down 50-60% engagement. Instagram has definitely eliminated users ability to see older posts as time goes on, I tested this on my personal account. When on my personal account, Instagram notified me I was “Up to date on all posts — nothing else to see here”. However, when scrolling down, there was a plethora of posts that were NOT seen.
Either this is a bug or a glitch, but Instagram is updating users that they have no more content left to see, these users are taking their word for it, not necessarily looking to check for themselves, and crushing long term engagement for older posts. I firmly believe Instagram will revert these algorithm changes implemented from the past week, simply because there have been so many complaints.
I am almost 100% certain long term engagement has been throttled or nerved. This is making your first 1-6 hours of a post crucial, and honestly regardless of how well it performs, they still all fade out.
