yeah you are right but not everyone reaches and stagnates at 1 mil users/month
i just bought web 2.0 on anchorI really don't understand but buying random backlinks from random persons is less effective then to go without backlinks

They are web 2.0 anchors. They hold no value to Google search really.
Those are typically better served as generic anchors

i tried it twice on different sites and it worked for me the thing is where i used to buy they have a lot of da60+ domains so if i buy a big pacakge i used to get around 300 referring domains which was a real boost for the site and then after that i used to write and serve users instead of focusing on links but now the seller just don't show any interest in really working because orders are late and domains are same even though i explicitly mentioned for different ones.

Find relevant high quality niche website accepting guest post with do follow backlinks and approach them.

I thought that the competition is high unlike before.
Or they are getting smarter these days which may get back your page and lost from Google.
Keep looking into the on-page of the competitor's sites and fix if you have any issues.
The guy by the sounds doesn't know how to do SEO.
