I need help with the following questions that I have been asked by this hosting company that I have applied a job for:

Here are some technical questions that our support team sees every day. What we are looking for is how you will solve the problem, what you will do to resolve it. You also need to take into account that our customers are the most important thing to us, we will do anything possible for them with the least amount of hassle to them. With that in mind, answer the next few questions.

    1. A customer is receiving a "500 internal server error" when trying to access their PHP script. Which logs or other files would you check to diagnose and fix this problem? What can cause a 500 Internal Server Error?

    2. A domain just had an SSL certificate installed. When going to the website, it?s showing a ?connection untrusted? error. What?s the cause of this and how would you fix it?

    3. A customer has switched their MX records to use Google's e-mail service, but when they send e-mail from their Site5 cPanel server to their hosted domain, the e-mail never arrives at Google. What might be the problem here? Assume all the DNS records are correct and propagated.

    4. A customer is receiving a lot of spam in their email account. This is a cPanel server. What would you do for the customer and what would you recommend?

    5. A customer is reporting his website is down. What steps would you take to determine the cause and fix the problem?

For the next 5 questions assume I am the customer, and you are the Customer Support Specialist. Also pretend this is a support ticket so you will want to include a greeting, and all the information you want to convey to the customer.

    1. ?I am trying to setup my e-mail account in my email software. I can receive mail fine, but I am not able to send any email.?

    2. ?I just checked my website for the first time in a few weeks and noticed it has been defaced with some kind of hacker message. How could you let my server get hacked and do nothing about it??

    3. ?Why are you telling me my resource usage is high? I barely have any visitors on my Wordpress site! Is this a scam to make me upgrade??

    4. ?Why can?t I send email to my cousin? I keep getting an error about being blocked and on a blacklist for spam. I have not sent any spam though! Why am I blocked? I need to send email now!?

    5. A customer wants a feature that is technically possible, but Site5 does not offer it (For example, let's say FTP is not offered). The customer is extremely angry. How would you explain it, how would you calm them down? What else would you do?

Feel free to pm me the answers. Cheers fellow blackhatters :)

You are not getting that job, sorry.

And if you do, you won't keep it.

I agree with Techxan, as I would say it's rather ridiculous that you apply for a job that you cannot even do without us.

Just a quick question. Hypothetically you get the job. What now? Every time you get a support request you hit BHW or the IRC to ask us? Really?

I wouldn't bother, if you can't answer most of these questions off the top of your head, why are you bothering applying? You could get all these answers easily from Google too, but instead you want people to do everything for you. Plus what will you do if they decide to ask you similar questions in person? I wouldn't want you working for my company or any hosting service I use, seeing as you don't know some fundamental basics. Don't mean to offend, but this post just baffled me.

Seriously... this is why hosting companies nowadays have such shitty support. People like you apply and have to post the questions here.
