I started to use SEO on shopify and wanted to ask you guys if u have any special tips or advices u can give me

I heard that shopify SEO is quite different from anything else and wanted to ask what the major aspects are that improve my rankings for my target keywords

Also wanted to ask if backlinks are necessary to build a good shop

ecommerce, im guessing?
Nothing different about seo on shopify, however ecom is different then blogging for seo. Offpage seo (backlinks) is more important for ecom since keyword ranking is a bit tougher on page with ecom due to restrictions on overloading the page with text and creating an unpleasant experience. If you can code and/or utilize text to code programs you might be able to beat your competition with some fancy custom scripts. You will want strong on page depending on your niche.

Depending on what you sell and how many category pages you'll have will depend on how you want to backlink to your inner pages. You will mostly want a specific url per category you are trying to rank. I also check competitors on serps to see how they are using their urls for the categories. If you're a one page store then good luck you wont rank for much out side of maybe a handful of keywords. I would suggest buying some apps on shopify for seo and marketing (maybe a month or 2 after you have your website designed really well). You can get most solid apps for under $10 per month, or you can start with free ones which usually work just as good with less features and tend to slow down your website speed more. If youre serious and have low coding skills, it would probably be worth to invest $200-$300 in a theme you like, it will provide a ton of extra features in the design editor that can go a long way.

Overall, it really depends on how deep your going to get with it. 1-10 pages is going to be very much different than 100-1000s+ pages when it comes to seo. In short backlinks are your primary source to rank for ecom, the larger amount of pages you have will increase the importance of on page seo. Having a blog section is always a good idea but due to the basic layouts typically on shopify it will likely underperform your competitors without some custom coding and strong on page to match.

yes backlinks are always helpful to build authority, traffic and much more

Backlink always help to make high website authority and gain more traffic.

Backlinks can help your website to beat your competitors by increasing authority.

I will not go into basic SEO principles, just giving some advices how to squeeze as much seo juice from your product pages:

1. Use colapsable content as much as you can. This is indexed and it doesn't look spammy, all content is collapsed. You can put several paragraphs in every colapsable section.
2. Alt tags for every image
3. File name for every image
4. Use only H2 and p in your product page, don't use H1 in the product description, your product name is H1.
5. Use reviews app, import them from amazon (that's also content that ranks)
6. Use yoast to polish your product description (this matters a lot)
7. Publish at least 2-3 nblog posts every week and stick to your schedule
8. Add your store to google search console, add sitemap
9. Track what pages get traction in the console and update those pages every month, improve the content constantly
10. Use internal links (blogs - products)
11. Use some amazon reviews as part of your product description. This improves burstines and perplexity
12. Follow AIDA method for your product description
13. Avoid using popups they increase bounce rate
14. Run 5usd traffic and engagement campaigns to create an illusion of a brand, facebook or tiktok. Google tracks those social signals
15. Create meta descriptions and titles wisely. Also, slug should be your exact focus keyword

personal opinion
E-commerce type SEO pays more attention to details
For example, the size of the product picture, the picture alt, the name of the product, h1, h2 and so on.
details make a difference.
Pay more attention to the optimization of various small aspects and external links outside the site than competitors
