I lost my rank.

Hello guys, I was getting normal traffic and was in position 2 for the keyword "X". After that, my website and the first website as well was removed from that position, and I dropped to page 5, position 4.


So, what is the key to getting back to my previous position?

First figure out what changed before doing anything else
check if competitors improved, if rankings dropped for one keyword only, or if there was a wider site impact

That's definitely an algorithmic hit

Check the search console for messages. Excessive errors, server down time or perhaps a penalty

i was in the keyword of the domain name the google droped me to the page 5, and i dont have any penalty, now how i can get back my position ?

This seems more like an algorithm shift or link content signals change rather than a manual penalty worth checking backlinks and any recent on page or competitor changes before the drop.

since both you, and the #1 competitors got booted out of page 1 it can't be anything technical IMO (server issue, for example).

It's most likely something that you and your #1 competitors are lacking that the guys who outranked you don't. So, check your page, and your #1 competitor's page against the pages that took your spots, and see what they have that you don't, or what they're doing better than you are.

Unfortunately, without knowing your niche, site, and target keyword we can't pinpoint the problem exactly, so my blind guess is that it's one of the following:

- recent google update (just finished rolling out last week I believe, so it's possible you've been affected by that thing)
- poor content, or poorly optimized content (not enough / the right LSI and / or SEO entities)
- poor / no internal linking
- also regarding content it could be outdated content (that's why you need to compare your content vs the content of those who outranked you)
- not enough trust and / or authority for the page that got affected, or for the entire site (again, compare these things against the same things of the guys who outranked you and see if you can find something).

If I were to blindly-guess even harder I'd say it's either outdated content, or lack of trust / authority (either at page, or site level), it's almost always one of these 2, so I'd start with these...

Based on your previous info, it is not only tough but impossible to guess the solution. Why did it happen? Did you change the content recently? what about your competitors? did they loose traffic as well?

Just curious, what's your niche? If the both the top-ranking sites dropped together, the cause isn't just the site.

could be a temporary shuffle. if site #1 vanished too, google likely re-evaluated that keyword cluster. don't start blasting links right away. check if new pages replaced u, compare their content, intent, freshness, and internal links. many people make it worse by changing everything after a drop. wait, monitor, then adjust based on what actually changed in the SERP.

Check the webmaster tool and analyse it, including how many days it's been since this fall occurred. Have you seen any fluctuations in these days, or is it stable?

i would not rush to make any changes at once but first i would determine what happened. find out whether the pages that were ranking highest are now updated are more relevant to the users search or have become more authorittative. sometimes it is enough just to update the content nd increase its value for a recovery from ranking loss.

Don’t immediately blast new links or rewrite the whole page, first identify why the page lost visibility.
Look at search intent, content depth, internal links, technical issues, and competitor changes, then make controlled improvements.

get backlinks and improve title and meta description.

First check if the SERP intent changed. Compare the current top results and audit content relevance, and also entity signals, internal links and backlinks. If the page is fine, improve relevance before adding more link.

You are right there. Instead of making yet another link to discuss something else, I believe we should concentrate on developing one of the links that we already have, where our interests coincide. this can be done through internal links.

Seem like an alghorythm update issue so if you got and check the console for errors and messages you should be able to see if you have any errors

First check GSC for any manual actions,indexing/canonical issues, and algorithm updates before doing anything. In case there is no obvious issue, analyze the page/ SERP with the existing top results and work on improving the shortcomings instead of just adding backlinks.

I think the problem most likely lies with your competitors. Check what the top-ranked team has been doing.

Build more backlinks from highly authoritative relevant websites.
