I got fired, time for revenge

Hey, what's up black hatters?

Bad news - I got fired from one local store, I developed their site for almost a year, promoted it, created unique design, did some great seo stuff, advertised on fb, google, local forums. When I went there, site had 10-20 visitors/day. Now it has 1200-1400 uv daily - mah job

But they had a problem - I wasn't adding products so fast (well, I have a reason for that - adding one product was a tough job, because I was creating extra fancy design for each product). And they hired a new guy, which doesn't understand html, php, js, css AT ALL. They gave him admin rights for my own fucking admin panel. And told him to add products ON MY FUCKING WEBSITE. And my boss said to me today that I'm fired - he didn't even paid a salary for the last two months and the pay-out price to own MY OWN website!

But the funny moment - they didn't change the server password, they didn't removed site from my google webmaster tools account, and I have admin rights to the admin panel.


I don't want to destroy the site, I want it to have it's full functionality, so that they couldn't blame me. So, give me advice guys )) And one more thing to consider - new "web-developer" they hired, doesn't have a clue about any coding or scripting. All he knows is how to add a product.


And one more suggestion to all store owners :

Don't fuck with webmaster, who developed a whole website and still has access to the files!

I dont know what to do, but I would want revenge myself. YOu bascially built them up from nothing then they fire you. Thats weak I would be pissed.

Open the same shop, derank their page rank your page have your revenge, but don't make the mistake and tell on internet the bad things you did. Could end fatal

Please delete it . can be used against you.

Play with the robots.txt file so it doesnt allow google traffic that'll deindex it, password protect the whole "products" section.

OR if you wanna monetize properly go to a competitor, offer them the traffic, and redirect from .htaccess


OR make a website shitting your employer and that local store and redirect all the traffic to that website so they lose all their rep. Use proxies!

Assuming you're in America, you're dead wrong. Your employer owns it as creating it was part of your job scope.

So long as you're on the clock and what you're doing is related to your position, you don't own jack, Jack.

Independent contractors own their sites. Receptionists that create a site own it, since creating sites is not in the scope of a receptionist's normal duties. The web designer does not own the website, design, graphics, nothing. Zilch.

Im assuming they paid you for you work, so in reality they own the site. Then again I am unsure if this is how it works, and I could be wrong.

I've developed on their payroll. I don't want to shut down the site, I want to do some "bad" stuff, so that they regret that fired me. They already called me today, asked FB page admin and asked about some weird problems with ckeditor they have

They paid me monthly. If they hired me to just develop a site and pay one-time, they own website, and can do whatever they want to do. But it was a monthly salary - they hired me to develop a website and administrate it.

Website is not in your name.
It was developed on company time, when they were paying you (as a web designer).

And somehow this website belongs to you? Yeah I don't think so.

I hope you realize what a dumb post this is, and if you do follow through with this it's going to be very obvious you were the offender. My advice would be to delete everything you said here and move on. Getting 'revenge' is only going to fuck you over.

Here is what I'd do. Contact the new guy and tell him to change all the passwords to lock me out. Explain I still have full access through CPanel.

Before I called him, I'd fix all the stuff you broke. No need for liability or revenge. You got paid for what you did. Probably more than what you did and the reason they fired you.

I see this all the time as a network professional and webmaster. A guy gets hired, builds a site for a company that doesn't know squat about it but trusts and hires someone to do the job for them. The webmaster figures he's got them over a barrel and then starts to jack off not doing the job he's being paid to do. He gives them BS reasoning and has poor work habits. Finally the company has enough of his BS and hires someone else to replace him. New guy comes in and while he might not be the brightest bulb in the room at least he's eager to work and not jack off the client with BS excuses.

I've walked in behind these sorts of primadonnas hundreds of times and sometimes they even won't disclose Administrator passwords or do malicious things to the client.

I've sat in Court rooms listening to them bumble for excuses because the company sued them for destruction of intellectual property and it's simple to prove who did it. I saw one guy almost wet himself when the Judge started reading the sentencing guidelines for his crime. He only got probation in the end but it was funny to watch Mr. Know-it-all damn near piss himself when he found out he could get 10 years in jail for screwing around with this company's website and network remotely after they let him go.

Learn your lesson. You fucked up and don't do it again. Last thing you want to do is make it worst on yourself. If they could afford to employ you they damn sure can afford to sue or criminally prosecute you.

Get a hold of the new guy and remove all your access from their website so they can't come down the road later and falsely accuse you of messing with their stuff. You don't want the liability and if you were half as smart as you think you are you would have made damn sure to disclose this before you left. Now you're on the hook for any shit that happens to their website because you're the only one with motive and will be the first person they point the finger at if shit hits the fan. Protect yourself, make the call and look for another job.

run down the website over a couple of weeks so traffic dies down and the new guy gets fired for doing a crap job. In the mean time set up a duplicate site and offer it to the main competitor for a small price with a percentage of all sales the website generates. Win Win situation.

Like I said, disallow any search engines from indexing their content. They'll eventually disappear from the SERPs in all search engines until they figure it out.

if you have all source and sql files - buy domain and hosting and than make a mirror of the site and make permanent redirect with .htaccess (only for search engines). Put products from amazon and make little money buddy good luck
