Most SEO build links to their homepage and money pages, and a few links to info pages.
But I build links to many other pages on my sites like the about us, privacy policy, author page, categories, and even search pages.
I don't just target the pages I want to rank, I build links to pages with competitive KW targets that I can't rank yet.
My idea is to have links pointing to more than 60% of my pages - This makes sense to me, making everything look natural.
Having a couple of links to most of your pages and a good internal linking structure is better than having a few pages getting hundreds of external links.
For the core pages, I believe if you have thousands of external links naturally, there's a tendency for people talking about you or your site, and link to your author page, about us, contact us, etc naturally.
Have you thought about this?
