Every self proclaimed white hat blog is talking about the so called "Hummingbird" today.

All these "experts" teaching others how to rank, the usual yadda yadda from the usual suspects and there's just one problem with it all....

Hummingbird happened over one month ago.

And all their amazing $300/month SEO tools didn't detect jack shit.

What a great tool mozcast must be! It does not detect a major update until after google told 'em there was one!

So....let's see what Sarry Bchwartz, Sanny Bullivan and Fand Rishkin have to say about something they missed completely!

If Google had kept quiet about Hummingbird, these people would have no idea it happened. This comes to show how much bullshit is sold in this business, these people only blindly repeat what search engine reps tell them to say.

Lastly, I would not be surprised if Hummingbird doesn't exist at all, and these guys are out there analyzing placebo. That'd be a master move by Google.

If the Hummingbird doesn't teach naive folks how much BS they're being fed by these gurus, nothing will.

As I say all the time, the only thing left to do is experiment and see what works, what hasn't and why it is not working if the latter is true.

That's the only way to crop out any placebo effect ;)
 
Just imagine how many updates have come out that were not reported and got exposure. These idiots make me sick and I had to just stop reading what they post because it's plain disinformation and you really can get side tracked with all the bullshit. "Hey.. run over here and check this out, I know it's right because I have nice pretty graphs that pin point exactly what is going on and that's why you should listen to me.." It really does make it tough for a new person coming in to have a shot at making any kind of money for him self. Fuckin retarded asses is what I think. Shit, I'm not going to give a "professional" opion and try to guess what the hell all the updates are about, to be honest I really don't care at all. Just gotta do what works and not cloud chase after these idiots.
 
Yep, couldn't agree more. I have always focused more on my traffic, # of orders and NBO to determine how well my biz is going, not on the "analysis" of "specialists" who are "experts" in something that no one really knows about.
 
Ya the shit makes me sick. I just seen a thread about ranking for the new update that someone posted about an ebook or some shit.. Get the fuck outta here. There is no way that kind of data could be gathered, analyzed and be accurate in a week to be selling it that will "actually" help people rank better. Just plain bullshit and scam.
 
I already told about this update on 5th of sep. But no one responded.. All of them just suggested me check that Bullshit mozcast..

actually, i monitor mozcast daily, i noticed spikes in the mozcast and a lot of shaking up of other people's rankings in the niches i monitor, i wondered when/if google was going to announce the update

if you were using mozcast and didn't notice any update, maybe you should visit http://mozcast.com/events
and get an idea of what to look for

None of the self-proclaimed industry gurus mentioned a major algorithmic shift back when you noticed those spikes. The thing we're discussing here is not whether there were spikes somewhere or blips on the radar, I believe what you saw and that you noticed those. But that's not the issue. These self proclaimed gurus, who influence thousands of aspiring IMer's, come out AFTER a press release by Google claiming they knew it all before. I's fucking ridiculous. They could have rang the alarm back then but they didn't.

They just react in hindsight and provide piss poor analysis. 99% of the reasons they claim for the ranking shifts are 100% bullshit. And the Hummingbird update exposed that.

It's like stock market analysts. If they could predict stock prices they'd do it for themselves, but they're happy to go live on Bloomberg to tell you where to shove yoru money when they don't have a clue of what to do with theirs. Truth is, stock price prediction is bullshit, just like white hat SEO blogs. They don't predict jack shit, they react in hindsight and provide poor analysis that will probably make you lose money.
 
There is one person which reported these i.e. Barry Schwartz of Seroundtable based on the chatter on the forums that was happening around that time
 
Posts like the OP's are the types of posts that I wish "The Lounge" here on BHW primarily consisted of...these are the types of posts that belong in an IM/SEO forum lounge.

The masses of sheep that follow these idiots perplexes me at times, watch them all run around now eating up the manure that the "gurus" proclaim!

Man if I was in charge of Googles PR team I'd troll the serious fuck out of these "guru" sites, heck they could announce different "updates" weekly and watch the shit storm roll on and on. Comedy at its finest!

Still don't know why people spend so much time at MOZ, SEJ,SEL etc etc...those sites are there so their owners can earn money out of people visiting their sites (you). There is nothing much worth reading over there.
Articles like:"5 ways to use Twitter for business"are made for one purpose only- Link building.

They (MoZ and the company) are full of shit about white hat but we all know that 50% of those articles are there so somebody can get a backlink. You don't believe me?

So, MOZ get money just by having this huge ass authority promoted by Google webmasters team, writers get money by writing articles for link building and agencies get money by promoting their brands on MOZ, simple as that. It's a huge black hat network.
