HTML vs CMS?

Hey guys, I had this question on my mind.

So I set up a single page website, it's just a landing page with services that I offer. I'm not going to edit it in the future, but I was wondering are there any major cons using simple html over CMS? Like is it harder to rank or something like that?

well most cms offer seo. it makes doing basic seo easy. some help with advanced seo. so yeah there is cons but as there is cons there is pros. but the pros of cms are canceled out if you know how to do seo, even just the basics yourself.

with html you have alot more control over the page than you would with a cms, which would allow you to make a great landing page. also if you dont use cms the page will load faster, also you wont require most space in the server, so you can save money not much at all tho.

If it is going to be a static page, then there is no advantage in a cms, except for speed, coding it in html would just take longer.

But when it comes to seo html will do you far more justice, also cms have a huge amount of extra files that you won't be using, so makes no sense to have them, put's uneccisary stress on your web-server.

Ranking the white-hat way in cms and coding is exactly the same, there is no difference really, thou finding the right plug-in for a cms can waste some time. So it is really up to you which one you choose.

So use what buckybrendan has used as well as what I have said into consideration.

With a cms thou, you get a theme. Not with html, you have to make that yourself.

Do you want this page to last a long time? If you do then you should code it, if it is just a throw away then use a cms. No point stressing over the design with html when you can in a few clicks get a design and have the single page up and running easily.

My website is all ready to go, I'm just wondering about all the SEO aspect, cos I am absolute noob in that...

CMS and HTML don't differ much when it comes to SEO IMO. Obviously with CMS's you can pick up some fancy plugins which can stand you in good stead and make on page SEO a piece of cake.

The only thing I would say is that Google loves fresh content and with a CMS you can add a blog section etc. which will allow you to add fresh content. For instance I have a SEO agency site which I add fresh content to in the form of a blog which brings in organic traffic. Even if you are selling lawn mowers you can use a blog to add fresh content.

CMS is using predefined HTML so there are not 2 different design languages. With simple HTML u need to do all the work from scratch (coding) and with CMS you can use themes which are coded in HTML. In terms of SEO, CMS is doing better because you have plugins. Hope you see the big picture now.
