How to value a site?

Hi guys, I hope this is the correct section.

I have a site that's hitting around 1.2k uniques a day through sites like reddit, it's a celebrity news site.

How do you value this type of thing? As i'm looking to potentially sell.

How many months has it consistently been earning?

What is the niche?
How high would the value per traffic be?
Is the interest for niche steady (like if it's a one-time event then it's short or if it's a yearly thing without a stop)?
Is the traffic source sustainable long-term?

I can make sure the site gets 1000+ uniques a day throughout the year, 100%

It's honestly not making much, I'm a noob when it comes to this. It has a few adsense adverts and I make like 40c per 1000.

At $0.40 per 1k, that equates to a total of roughly $12.00 per month with AdSense which means your site is worth between $144-$180 (12-15 Months of Earnings).

That's also probably a little generous. Me, I would be looking to see if you can monetize it a different way to turn the visitors into some money.

I have no clue what but I would not offer without a fair amount of testing anyway.

It may be, however, understand that the value of a site predominantly is only based on it's earnings, in which case happens to be on the lower end for your site. Unfortunately, site owners who are looking to sell forget that a buyer isn't concerned with the what you've spent on content, or how much work you've put in to the design. In the end, they only care about how much the site is making and that's all they're willing to pay for.

Theres always room for growth. Just scale and update the site constantly.

Even less when you subtract the cost of hosting and domain fee per year..

Is it a news site ABOUT Bieber? I think there's money to be made but not with Adsense.

Most of your traffic, I assume, are from people 21 and below, mostly female. Test with CPA offers or have like a membership funnel or something. $5/year for VIP membership for exclusive news about Justin and have a chance to meet him backstage or whatever. Be creative.

Do you think 1k visitors is a lot? They are not looking to buy anything, they just click your news or whatever, because you attracted them to your site WITH Bieber.

I think $0.4 CPM is low, you should get it above that if you have traffic from tier 1 countries, if not, then $0.4 CPM is OK. Just get more visitors, with an international site, you can grow much larger. 1k visits/day is nothing.

Here's a huge tip...

Instead of showing one page to a visitor, show them 10 pages. Just split content up to multiple pages. That will increase your pageviews 1000% and thus, it will increase revenue. Downside is that it's not good user experience.

For example, why post 1 pic of Bieber or 10 pics of Bieber on 1 page, when you can post 10 pictures in 1 link, but make user click "next" 10x - generating you 10x the pageviews (you can see how it's done on likes.com).

If you are using wordpress, google 'wordpress pagination previous next page' and integrate that into your template. Seriously, this is the single best thing you can do to extract value from your limited traffic.

My advice is: add more content (more celebs or w/e), migrate your site to a more generic domain (if it's Bieber specific) and just GROW. Use the pagination tip and you'll make bank.

In google, people paid in keywords they know people are searching for ! You are bidding for targeted visitors, this is why ads costs a lot

In Facebook, most people are there for entertainment. Facebook analysis your profile and give you ads according to it. You have travelling as a hobby, give him some travelling Ads. You love famous people, give him some celebrity news website. You shared a post about Tom Cruise. Give him an ad about Tom Cruise latest film CD !

Now these are not targeted visitors so they don't cost a lot, but they convert and people are killing it with facebook ads.

You can choose to just give up, or turn it to your best source of income !
