Such type of traffic is useless. They are not loyal for the channel .

... But then what's left of the well-known advice: don't mix shorts with regular videos on the same channel for watch time reasons ?? I thought shorts had to be put on another channel for redirecting only. Or is the game changing ?

Totally Agree. The shorter and faster the content nowadays, the more engagement.
 
Use more than one social media not only youtube, use facebook, you can also advertise your youtube channel in your facebook account and target a region and specific people, tiktok is the boom right now you should take advantage of that one also and try to redirect them to your youtube channel.

I haven't started collabs yet but, I'm planning to - just need to organize my time.
Any speed moving forward is good.
If feel overwhelmed - like I do - go to a little channel - do a livestream with them.
If they have 10 people watching and 1 subs - you have gained 1 sub and valuable experience.
If it doesn't work - then, you've learned that this is not for your type of content.
I have started using drummitup (ok - second time I mention this - I am not the owner of drummitup and I don't work for them) and I've gotten a few new faces. Now, if these new people like my content and tell other people, and also watch my older videos, eventually I'll be getting my investment back.
So, getting to the point - you'll probably need to try many things before you find the correct answer for YOU.
 
You might try sharing your url onto social media for algo to get you up !
 
I also have a new channel but I try to make content for viewers and not for the algorithm. However, what I found is that your thumbnail is the most important thing you should spend your time on. This is the only thing that has made significant growth in my channel. Can you dm your channel? I will also share mine.

Sadly, I have found out that the wrapper sells the candy and it's a little too bad. So, I am taking advantage of this. One way FOR SURE is that you can make some of your thumbnails bland and when you know you'll have a hit - make it fluo green or the likes - it'll stick out like a sore thumb - you can actually 'tell' people which video to look at!
 
If the content is really good, sooner or later it will be noticed - so they used to say on YouTube)
Now the situation is similar, the main thing is to push the channel, for example, by buying advertising and steep optimization.

You should ask some experienced guy to review your channel. We all think that our videos are great. But only a viewer can give correct suggestion.
 
I use a place called drummitup to show my videos. I havent had many many more subscribers but ive had more views and they are real people. My wife is in a fb group for other stuff. She shows them a video of mine once a week. That day my numbers go up 100. Its not much but, if you continuously grab everywhere, all these places will add up.
It will be 2 years in sept 2022 and i have 1.3k viewers. Ive given myself 6 years to see a significant rise in numbers.
 
Since you don't know the black hat method, if you only use the white hat method, stick to the fresh and good video retention rate. Thumbnails are always the best.

Don't use video clips that have already been abused, create new ones. And change the video frame to a new one. Fresh Frame + Quality + Cover

White Hat, this is the end. easy. The black hat method is easier and is a money farm.
 
The main things you should really focus on are:

1. Topical relevancy (YouTube likes when people created some kind of theme around their videos).
2. Engagement (build a loyal community).
3. Watch time (indication of how interesting your videos are to the end-user). If somebody clicks on your video and then immediately bounces back it is really a sign for YouTube not to recommend your videos anymore.
