Hi All,

I need some help here, I'm just wondering on how to SEO a website in two
different locations.

Your reply is much appreciated.

Thanks!

What type of locations? Different countries or different cities?

Elijah,

Theoretically, (and depending on how many pages you have) you could rank a website in a number of different specific locations because search engines rank documents not websites. For instance you could have a page targeting Detroit, Michigan and another targeting Los Angelos California.

That being said, there are other factors that influence how your site would show up for localized results. For instance if you were trying to rank in another country it may be more difficult without a country specific TLD. Also, if you have a business, you may get beat in local results by businesses who have a local presence with a place page and reviews from local people.

Here are some tips on that,

Hope that points you in the right direction,

Shawn

Is your website multilingual, right?
Look for "Multi-regional and multilingual sites" and "Geotargeting" in Google Webmaster Tools, I hope it can help.

Elijah, if you're running a business it's always best to target your first local market first before branching to other countries to target. Also depends on what kind of business you're running, but it's always essentially important to do geographic targeting first.

Thanks Shawn for this useful information.
