How to Send Cold Emails at Scale Without Getting Banned?

I recently got my hands on a decent-sized email list (not sure how clean it is tbh), and I’m planning to send some cold emails to promote a digital product.

But I’ve heard stories about email accounts getting flagged, domains blacklisted, or whole campaigns shut down.

Any advice on how to send cold emails at scale without getting banned?

Is Gmail + automation still viable or already too risky?
Also, if anyone’s willing to share — are there still ways to get decent email lists in specific niches? Most of what I find online looks super low quality or recycled.

Appreciate any tips or resources!

You need to warm your email account, you cannot use a new account to send hundreds of emails at a time.

Send a consistent and slowly growing number of emails and reply to those who respond. This - over time - will build rapport with your email service provider, who will award you higher email delivery rates once you show you are not spamming. There are email warming services that can help, some even offered here in the marketplace.

1. Start with 10–20 emails/day and then gradually increase it by 10–20% weekly. you can also engage with replies (even manual ones) to show legitimate activity. Moreover you can also use tools like Lemwarm or Warmup Inbox for automated warming.

2. SendGrid are built for bulk sending and offer better deliverability and also set up a custom domain with proper SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records to authenticate your emails and avoid blacklisting.

3. Use verification tools like NeverBounce to remove invalid addresses.

4. since sending thousands of emails at once looks suspicious therefore use automation tools like Woodpecker to drip emails over hours/days.

5. send low-volume emails to highly engaged audiences (like it can be your own subscribers or LinkedIn connections) who are likely to open/reply. This builds a positive sender score faster than generic warming services.

6. Test small batches (50–100 emails) with different subject lines, sender names and email body structures. try to use tool like GlockApps to see which versions land in inboxes vs. spam.

7. Message prospects on LinkedIn first with a soft pitch and then follow up via email. This warm-cold approach reduces spam flags and increases open rates.
 
To be honest, there are too many restrictions in this field. If you want to send unsubscribed cold emails, the best way is to use a large number of email accounts to send 20-50 emails to each account, making sure every email reaches the inbox.
 
Cold email still works, but Gmail + automation is risky now. Better to warm up a custom domain and start slow. Good lists are hard to find; most are junk or overused. Gotta test and clean them first.
 
Warm up email accounts, plenty tools for that. Also have many different domains with many mailboxes, like 3-5 per domain. Each mailbox sends out like 20 emails per day. of course, you can go more aggresive, but it would be riskier
 
My Formula

Buy custom emails from Google Workspace (Safe IP)

Add them to warmup for a week

From 1 Sender email you can send 50 emails per day at start

Make sure your Email list is Verified , if bounce rate exceeds 2% , sender email health may go down which may lead email to land into inbox

And Don't add to much links in your email content
 
slow and steady wins the race, start as slow as possible with multiple sender domains and test copies, avoid adding links in the copy and just keep testing
 
been there bro. def don’t send to that list raw... clean it first or u’ll get nuked. gmail + automation is way too risky now. better to use a warmed-up custom domain n send slow. most email lists online are trash tbh, i just build mine from scratch now. safer n better.

Never blast a fresh domain. Find a website that can provide email verification and list cleaning services to clean your list first so you’re not hitting dead addresses or spam traps

Thanks, super helpful. Any tools or sites you personally recommend for warmup or cleaning?
 
honestly look for email tools to do the work... if you do it manually and you have no clue what you are doing chances are you are gonna get blacklisted pretty soon

1.- warm domains at least 4 weeks
2.- warm accounts for at least 2 weeks
3.- do not exceed 30 emails per inbox
4.- verify the emails before sending out
5.-use spintax to randomize the content
6.- no more than 5 inboxes per domain

you can use warmy, for warming up emails, apollo for lists, but you need to verify the quality of the leads using another tool

this is really complicated sht I am doing it myself and its not easy, you can burnout your accounts domains pretty easy if you do it lightly, there is a right way to do this on 2025 still. but you need to get a lot of good info and decent tools
 
Start sending slow first but also make sure your recipients emails aren’t dead, and won’t bounce. You can ensure this by cleaning your emails.

Send the emails from a reliable pre-warmed custom built SMTP server.

Using Gmail + an automation it's still valid if you have the right automation that uses an anti detect browser, proxies, generate unique fingerprints, allow using randomization and spintax.

Getting account banned depends on what do you send, aged, proxies...if an account get banned you can simply replace it.

The best thing to do is to use Google Workspace with a warm-up setup. The very most of the emails will go to the inbox and it will be more sustainable for future use
 
I tested a 5k list last month and the key was segmenting it and sending <50 emails/day per account for the first week.
 
If list is not clean you will get burned fast no matter the tool. Warm up domains slow and keep daily volume low at start.

Gmail plus automation still works but only with good data and simple plain text emails.
