They ought to have their own mugshots up for that scam!

Even though it's a serious dickhead move that pisses people off, I don't think it's actually illegal. Probably makes him a fortune.

lol im on the website a couple of times and so are members of my family IF YOU CANT DO THE TIME DONT DO THE CRIME LOL...................im kidding

Set-up a website "w w w .pleasedontkillrobwiggin. c o m", and then publically post rob wiggins:

Full name, w/ copy of his birth certificant
Driver's license number
current address
cell phone number
names, address, phone numbers and other identifying information of his family member including:
parents, siblings, wife, wife's family, friends, extended family members, women he's dated in the past, women that have claimed he has abused them in some way, the names of the people he was incarcerated with and their identifying information, etc...

Post big color pictures, Google maps of his current address, with pictures of his house, his children, their schools, what vehicle(s) he's driving, with license plate numbers, the address of his favorite bar, favorite restaurant, the fat cow he's cheating on his wife with and all of her information, etc...

Use mass emails and offer unreal (and false) amounts of reward money to continue to gather more information. The site may get taken down, so be ready to move it around under other names and (obviously) foreign hosting. And let him know that all he has to do to make you go away is sign over his website to you. Oh, and $10,000 in cash, too.

Im pretty sure that blackmail would cause the OP way more trouble then good.

she could get it

I've been trying to figure out a way to have my mug shot taken off florida.arrests.org, preferably a bh way. I found a company that will do it for $400 but there has to be a better way. Anyone have any ideas?

The problem here is that the info posted is public information and they got it from the agency which made the arrest. DMCA won't work as there is no copyright. Privacy violations won't work because the info is public in the first place.

There is no legal method to force them to remove the info, so you might as well pay them if you really want the info removed.

I have to say that it is a nice scam and I like it. All perfectly legal. Stinks but legal.

Seems crazy that such a thing is legal. I think there's grounds for extortion charges or law suit being they will only remove it for a fee. And being that they are offering that service as a separate company, sounds like an extortion racket to me.

To post the images is one thing and is probably perfectly legal. To create a shadow company and extort money to remove them takes it to the next level IMO.

It sort of is, but not in the legal sense.

When some schmoe gets caught downloading a $39 Hollywood movie from the interwebz and some shyster law firm demands $5,000 or they will allegedly sue, that's not considered extortion in the legal sense either. Heavy-handed and stupid, yes, illegal as in extortion, no.

If you are just posting public records obtained under FOIA or Open Records laws of each state, you won't have any legal troubles in the criminal sense. Newspapers and the media do this all the time. What you have to watch for is individual state laws on what constitutes public records and what doesn't. For example, in some states it is a crime to disclose the home address of a person employed by any law enforcement agency. Posting Social Security numbers is a situation that could get you into deep shit quickly. Even when you may be protected under criminal law for posting this kind of information, that doesn't necessarily immunize you from civil lawsuits either.

I'm disappointed...turns out he's only getting $19.95 from rep companies to remove info that he put up in the first place. Seems like such small change, especially when one sleazy Blacker-than-Blackhat lawyer is charging $1250 and is probably paying the $19.95, lol. Nice markup, Saul Goodman!

As far as the credit card skimming in Mexico.....WIRED called it "small-time." Guess he didn't have a chance to RAMP IT UP! Doesn't seem like the dude is much of a big thinker. He is astute enough to write(or pay) for a good scraper for all the mug shot content, but then he uses Adsense as primary revenue and only charges $19.95 for info removal? Then u bring the shit down on yourself by agreeing to be interviewed by WIRED? Duh.

ex-con named Rob Wiggen?....no he's soon to be a re-con...and by re-con I mean Ghost Reconâ„¢ by Thomas Clancy.

Most states have arrest records as public record, so they technically dont have to remove it if florida is one of those states.

Actually he no longer owns the site, he sold it to a law firm, this law firm is launching multiple versions of the site. If a mugshot site accepts money directly for removal they are violating federal law, specifically RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act), however this law firm works through SERM companies which pay the law firm which pays the shell company thus they are protected legally. The law firm does not have to disclose their financial records, it is still illegal but they cannot be charged cause the evidence of this is protected by federal law lol it is just one big loophole they are exploiting. Anyways you can't take it down without paying the money, just pay it and move on with your life, if you lose a job because of this then it has cost you more than $400, it sucks but that is life. Also threatening to sue them will not get it removed, nor will taking them to court. We had a number of clients take them to court and the cases were immediately dismissed cause of the 'sunshine laws'. Cheapest route .... Pay the $400.

I've been on there before and I know a few on there today.
