A lot of blog posts don’t rank because the content is written around a topic, but not around actual search intent.
If you want organic traffic without ads, I’d focus on these first:
1. Go after easier keywords
Don’t start with broad terms. Target long-tail keywords with clear intent first. It’s much easier to rank for something specific than for a head term everyone is chasing.
2. Match the type of content Google is already ranking
Search your target keyword and look at page 1. If Google is ranking guides, write a guide. If it’s ranking list posts, comparisons, or product pages, match that format. A lot of people miss this.
3. Improve on-page SEO properly
Use the main keyword in the title, H1, URL, intro, and a few natural places in the content. Also work on internal linking. Many blog posts stay buried because they have no supporting links from other relevant pages on the site.
4. Make the post actually useful
Thin content rarely holds rankings. Add examples, screenshots, steps, FAQs, comparisons, or original insights. If someone can get the same info from 20 other posts, Google has no reason to push yours higher.
5. Fix your technical basics
Make sure the page is indexed, loads fast, works well on mobile, and doesn’t have crawl issues. Sometimes the problem isn’t the article itself, it’s the site setup.
6. Build topical authority
One post usually won’t do much by itself. Publish supporting content around the same topic and interlink those posts. That helps Google understand your site knows the subject.
7. Get a few real backlinks if possible
You don’t need a massive backlink blast, but even a few relevant links can help, especially if the keyword has any competition.
If I were you, I’d audit one post that isn’t performing, check the keyword difficulty, compare it against the top 5 results, and then improve search intent, internal links, and content depth first. That usually gives you a clearer answer than publishing more articles blindly.
