Despite my status here as an administrator, I have bought products and services from Black Hat World. As a result, I do understand the pain of through thousands of words worth of generic testimonials, annoying comics, and completely unnecessary fluff talking about how I need them or my business will sink into the ocean.

However, my years of experience as a marketplace moderator has taught me how to quickly get through all of that fluff and get to the real meat of their sales thread (calm down, I wasn't cutting corners, there's just some stuff that's better to check first). Today, I want to help you do the same.

So start off, for sales threads without sales graphics, this is really simple: all you want to do is use CTRL+F (or CMD+F) and search for the following:
  • $ - To find their pricing.
  • Refund - To find a refund policy
  • Money - To find money-back guarantees (AKA, another term for refund).
  • Contact - To find off-forum contact details.
  • Discord - To find off-forum contact details.
  • Skype - To find off-forum contact details.
There are service-specific search terms, but I'm going to save that for another thread as this one is meant to be for general use.

Now, for sales graphics, this is a somewhat more complicated matter, but not one without a solution. You see, there's a nifty type of tool you can use called optical character recognition software. As you can guess, this software scans the image and outputs the characters into a text document. In other words, you can use the same method above to search for specific points in the sales copy.

-not loading correct on mobile devices

I think the services on BHW should be unified like:

... but nobody listened to me. 1 or 2 years ago I made such proposition in Forum Suggestions

I'm looking forward to marketplace 2.0! It will really help us newbies find some quality people to review. No one has reviewed me yet despite making some purchases!

Sorry, I don't have an ETA.
This post was 6 months ago - still no action? I stumbled across this thread because I was searching for a tabulated list of offerings instead of having to read though page after page of those stupid f*ing images.

This is a large forum. With thousands of active threads and support tickets daily.

Things will be done in due time.

MP 2.0 is moving along at a nice place as to development and there are a lot of elements involved as well as a full team on it.

The thing you do not like, it seems, is that it is taking a long time.

The thing you do want to know is that every time an element comes up to add in, it takes a lot of testing to make sure it works and, on top of that, we see another element to offer based on that one to make the members experience the best we can offer and those elements take the same effort so good begats better and better begats best.

We are aiming for the best.

Oh I didn’t say I didn’t like anything - just surprised at the time involved is all.

you`re right. even though pictures can say more than a thousand words, they are often superfluous in the marketplace. sellers should limit themselves to the most important key data. before i registered here, i wasted countless hours checking offers.

Sorry for necromancing the thread but it would really be helpful to be able to use the forum search function to search all of the marketplace pages in a particular thread using all keywords at once. Instead, it looks like we're forced into having to choose between searching keywords one by one for every single page of a thread or "upgrading" to $100 membership just so I can search for services without going insane! Seems kind of silly to me. Unless I'm missing something. I don't see a Marketplace "2.0" anywhere on the forum either.

There is currently no functionality to search within a marketplace thread itself. The opening post of a sales thread must be updated if there are any changes to the original offer; that's explained here.
You don't need to be an upgraded member to use the search function; how to use it is explained here.
Strictly speaking, if you have a suggested improvement for the forum, please post it in Forum Suggestions & Feedback, of course, checking the rules for this section first. This avoids bumping a Newbie Guide thread with no activity since 2022 (a user may be warned for two things here: post count inflation and/or posting in the incorrect sub forum). Take care to use the forum in line with our Terms of Use
