I'm going to start back up using GSA contact forms, however, I know sending direct traffic from the forms to my website can result in my website being penalised by Google.

I'm thinking of making a landing page intermediary and looking for advice on best practises to use for this.

Any thoughts let me know :)

Just choose any of the many free page creators, or register a throwaway cheap tld domain. Then use the same principles that you'd use for any other sales lander.

BTW Google won't penalise a website because it appears in contact form submits, but what is more likely is that the website will get included in web spam blocklists (spamcop et al) which can then have a knock-on effect.

You wont get banned for sending traffic to your site unless there are complains
