My main site is a bit of an authority type site for anti-aging that mainly promotes a Shareasale product that gets approx 5 sales weekly from approx. 700 uniques daily. This month it is set to make about $120 from Amazon - I have 6 posts like the ones I describe plus four pages that just list several amazon products with a short 300 word introduction, describing the uses of the product in general. So it isn't much money, but Amazon sales are not my main objective with this site.

My site currently has about 50 pages, Amazon is a useful sideline as the Shareasale items cost in the region of $100 and many visitors can't afford that, but are prepared to shell out on a skin care book or other cheaper product.

In the new year, I would like to try building a similar site that only promotes Amazon stuff. I have made Amazon sites in the past, but they always performed dismally, and I think was because I was just using tools to generate posts and pages that didn't have any useful content. Google didn't like them, and neither did visitors.

I wish it wasn't the case, but unfortunately, at least in my experience, it is.

I have some similar pages that are generated using an ebay plugin. They weren't getting any search engine love until I added about 300 words of introductory text to the top of the page.

So, if a page is showing all the ebay auctions for Dr Perricone skin products, I write a few paragraphs about who he is, why his products work, etc etc. Anything you think will keep your visitor interested and also give spiders something to decipher and rank.

The good thing now is, although those ages still don't get many direct hits a day, the visits they do generate are usually ready to buy as they have typed the specific brand into the search engine.

I am no expert and am still learning as this site is only 7 months old - but I feel once you have a certain amount of genuine non-promotional useful info on the site, you can add as many product pages as you want and providing they are meet the searchers needs, G will rank them.

Why don't you put up an aStore? It's very simple to set up through your Amazon affiliate page. Just create a page called store or shop on your site and embed the aStore code that Amazon provides you.

You can add categories, 1000's of products if available and it will have a shopping basket. Dead simple.

I do this on all my Amazon blogs and get a 18% to 20% conversion most months.

These are MNS sites with low traffic though.

My newbie question;

I have read the amazon bible, a really interesting ebook. But I dont understand, the author recommends different plugins, to promote amazon products.

I think, every IM says; dont use plugins or amazon widgets.

What is true?

Does an astore (plugin) converts great?
Or does the amazon wordpress plugion converts great?

Or nothing of them, better I put only a direct text link with an image above my post, would this be better convert as astore and amazon wordpress plugin?

What can you recommend me?
