How to promote amazon products?

I'm building an authority website in the fitness and health niche and lately I get around 3500 uv a day. I tried putting an amazon banner (that leads to a review page of the product and a link to amazon ) a week ago but no luck with sales.

Can I promote products some other way? Can I build a menu link to a ministore page for example? I appreciate any suggestions.

For a long time I had no luck with Amazon at all, but this month am approaching $100 - not great but my site promotes lots of other products too.

I have found my in text Amazon links work best. For example, I talk about a problem that my visitors need to solve, in my case get younger looking skin, then talk about some things that will help. I then add something like "Click here to read the excellent reviews of XYZ product users on Amazon."

Obviously whitehat and time consuming, but it seems to work quite well - just make sure you promote only products with good reviews.

I create a variation of this layout for most of my Amazon sites.

Sometimes I put 3-5 products in a table at the top of the page to make it look like a store. Sometimes I put this right in the middle of a post with a read reviews button. I use a small price plugin to pull the price since Amazon requires the price to be updated dynamically. This basic layout has worked for me in tons of different niches. It is just a copy of Amazon's own layout but it loads infinitely faster and converts much better than their own widgets.

PS Here is the Amazon Price plugin I use. It's $10. It's not required but I think it makes the layout look more professional and prevents sticker shock in more high end niches.

i think its best not to, Adsense is tricky to deal with, when I add it to my sites they sink lol

Yeah I am finding when I put up Amazon links on my sites with Adsense that the Adsense stuff is bogarting the action I should be getting with Amazon but the success rate is in the toilet.

I really think Amazon can work for me but damn if I am not struggling with it. Really hurts me knowing this is PRIME spending time for people on Amazon and I am missing a piece of that pie.

Yesterday I made my first sale from the banner - 57 clicks 1 sale

Today i did what LBrown suggested.Posted an article and put product at the end of it.Lets see how it goes.I post my articles to about 3.5k audience so it already has about 100 reads

I'm still having second thougts about my idea for a menu link to a ministore.

Amazon products are hard unless you find a sweet spot of good products

i think you have to promote you product as many ways as you can
such commenting posting directory and article
as you get more visitor on ypour product

If you have some money invest them for Niche based domains. Eg: best selling products on Amazon. For each site make at least 5 posts, that would be enough. then build some backlinks for them. then wait couple of weeks. you will see the results. :biggthump

Just send as much traffic as you can. December is a great month for Amazon, in the past 2 days I made $50 bucks with them. Not too shabby I would say..

Use small images that have the caption "Click Here To View" Make sure they are small though, so they actually will lol.

Also, do not show price on widgets, make them click to find out

Here is what I find works best:

Find a product that has great reviews, and I would say in the diet niche, quite new, not some old weight loss system that has been around for years.

Decide what the main point of the product is - lets say it is called "Get Rid Of Your Muffin Top in 10 Days" we know it is a diet to get rid of muffin top.

Then use this 5 questions approach to write an article or post. (I got this from a copywriting course here on BHW, I will try to find the link for it - but basically this is the method the woman uses to sell products in a nutshell)

1. What is the problem?

So this is your opening paragraph - identify the problem and expand on it. Say how muffin top is very common in women of a certain age, that is extremely hard to get rid of once it sets in, and how unattractive it is.

2. Why hasn't the problem been solved?

This is your second paragraph. So you would write how most diets target general fat, and nobody has devised a way that focuses specifically on muffin top in the past. And anyway, even if they had, 90% of diets are just too hard to stick to.

3. What is possible?

In your third paragraph you tell them if they were able to get rid of their muffin top, they would look much better, they would be able to wear stylish clothes, and their husbands might even start fancying them again. It would also be less strain on their hearts, they would have more energy, etc, etc.

4. What is different now?

The fourth paragraph will be about how things are different now, because someone has actually devised a way to get rid of ugly muffin top that is not hard to stick to, it doesn't require loads of exercise or expensive items, and it really works.

5. What should they do now?

This last paragraph is your call to action:

i.e. "Click here now to read about how hundreds of Amazon users are reducing their muffin tops with ""Get Rid Of Your Muffin Top in 10 Days".

This is really easy once you get the hang of it. The first four paragraphs only need to be about 75 to 100 words, and in my experience, it is working well with Amazon.
