How to promote a social network?

Hey,
I am creating a very unique social network and the idea is amazing (that's what I think :P ). I am sure a lot of people would jump in when they hear about such concept. But, how do I get the very first few users on that social network? :/ I am sure a lot of people would join after it starts getting a bit popular but suppose I have 10-20 users right now. what do i do ?

what is the best step to take?

1. Email Marketing ( I think this one is the best )
2. Social Media Marketing
3. Any other method

btw, the website I am creating is not at all similar to FB, twitter, pinterest or any other. Its something that isn't there yet.
 
Advertise on BHW
Emails, social media, backlinks.. Try some giveaways for the current users, if they manage to get more users for you. If you don't mind paying for ads, go definately for google ads, don't know if facebook allows advertising other social networks
 
I wont be advertising through fb ads. Saying social media marketing I mean through existing fb pages with 1-2 million fans :)
 
Yes i understood that :P fb ads could give an extra boost on targeted countries, or age ( as i remember there are options on what ppl to show your ads) anyway, combine all these. The word will spread about your site and then you will get members without actually doing anything as members will probably promote you
 
OP, I just checked your homepage and you have 5 very diverse sections on your blog.
Do SEO tips and Beauty tips work well together?

lol , that was my first blog :P so didn't know much about these stuff at that time. and nop they don't work together . :P , thanks :)
 
If the idea is really great, the social network provides their users interesting content and unique services, then it will not be difficult to promote it.
Eg. on social media :)
 
How effective is traffic redirection and some of the SEO techniques that you can pay for? Driving traffic to a website or video to promote something? Are the people even real? Like you can pay for twitter followers, but is it effective?

I'm actually working on a Social Network project for a client and Im charging him $21,000. Another $30,000 will be used for marketing and my $1,000 monthly fee for maintenance this year. $50,000 for a social network budget is still pretty cheap. But heres a simple tip I hope you didn't look over. MARKET RESEARCH! You will be wasting a lot of time & money if you dont do market research. To be honest if you did market research you wouldnt be asking this question.

Do research on your target audience then market to them & ONLY them (for starters). Once you have a decent amount of active users then you can scale up. Maybe even a rewards system.
 
maybe post it on Blackhatworld i think a lot will be intrested to see the site going viral.
 
Try Google ads or any other Social Network ads. You can advertise by forum also.
