To me a content strategy is a document that clarifies the following for everyone involved:
· the business goals for the content
· what we know about the target audience
· assessment of any current content given the above
· a list of new topics, formats, timing and delivery platforms
· the ways we plan to measure the effectiveness of the content
With these things written down everyone from the content creators to the business owners can have a serious discussion about what it would take to execute. From there decisions can be made of which ideas are worth investing the time and money in and which elements should get pushed off to another year.
