How to monetize a half million Facebook fan page - creative thinking...

Greetings gentlemen. I have a Facebook fan page of 500,000 fans. This is not a random "we hate justin beiber" type of page, it is a page that I have built with heavy interactions with the users for the past 2 years. Also, it doesn't fall into a certain niche. I have come to a point where I want to monetize it but I have no particular ideas of how to do this.

So I thought I would brainstorm this with my fellow masters here at BHW. So what would you guys advice? Should I create a website with adsense and try to traffic the users there daily? Build a Damnlol type of clone (not sure I want to invest in the bandwidth costs though)? Or some other way of monetizing?

Any ideas would be appreciated. I have full programming knowledge, but I haven't played around much with money making online (although I understand its concept). Ideally, I would like to target a creative solution to this rather than spamming the users to a point where they will unlike the page.

How about try giving us as much insight as you can, what do you talk about on the fanpage?

Sure, it varies, recently, I have been mostly posting viral type of photos to expand my likes. I do as well discuss social interactions and media in general. I hope that gives you more details.

I am going to need more context of what your fanpage is about before offering advice. how did you accumulate 500,000 fans? are they fake fans or real fans? if so, you have to be doing something on your fan page to attract these people. what type of posts are you posting and how often?

Of course. Initially for two years ago, I started of by inviting all my friends to it. Then gradually I kept making status updates and ran different type of static FBML pages with "Like this page and comment on here"... it started of quite slow but back in the days, the Facebook stream was way more beneficial for fan page exposure which lead to a very high increase once it took off. Then the past year, I have mostly been focusing on what works best nowdays, which is cool, funny or amazing pictures that people like and share. And yes, I estimate 98% real fans. I didn't use any gibberish to get them. Hope that gives enough input!

Region? Are they country specific? Language?

They are 50 percent US, and the rest is mainly from English speaking countries like Canada, UK Australia etc...

Try and figure out if your fan page following will go to Social Media Sites and like people's pages, etc.

Doing random Social Media "Shout outs" could be a small attachment to make some side cash.

Have you tried classic, non-spammy affiliate programs? Like Amazon?
