As a sales manager and trainer in call centers and someone who writes sales scripts for a living I can tell you the most important stuff you need to learn is functional in nature. You should start by studying sales altogether as presenting a sales message requires understanding the entire process. Anyone can string words together, but creating value in the mind of prospective customers through the written word is very much an art that depends on experience.

Read everything you can about sales ... write some regular article content to help hone your overall writing skills ... then read anything and everything you can about copywriting itself to understand the more intricate elements such as creating scarcity, appealing to emotions, etc... finally observe in every facet of your life the way media messages are conveyed. Many people miss that almost all of life is sales ... what's being traded isn't always products and services ... it might be a favor for a friend ... it might be the give and take of a marriage ... it IS everywhere, so just take note of it.

It should not take long before you start to spot the patterns of how people convince others to take actions. That's sales, and simply putting it into a presentable format that illustrates features and benefits and how they fulfill needs = copywriting.

Practice! Reading is a good start, but writing and experimenting is also essential to the learning process. Copywriting is definitely an arena where learning-by-doing comes into play.

Best way to learn is by doing it and studying along the way.

Studying "Hows To's" and research other successful examples of copy. For example some of the best copywriters in the world write for tabloids. National enquirer ,etc...

It isnt something you learn overnight unfortunately...the best thing you can do is study other peoples work.

You need something more than just practice, and its a bit of talent. Without talent its difficult to be a success copywriter because of hard competition

The only way to really learn is to do it over and over. With time, you just get better. Find some things that are working and study them. Pick them apart to see WHY they work.

#1 is to read Ca$hvertising, it's like the 101 handbook to writing copy (IMO) - it's a good look into human nature and learning why good copy actually works. (Don't stop reading here, but I would recommend starting here.)

#2 is to read a ton of copy, both good and bad. You'll learn from the good and learn what to avoid with the bad. Turn off your ad blocker RIGHT NOW and start clicking ads that you like. You will see everything from "DAMN that's good" all the way to "DAMN this is absolute garbage".

#3 is to practice, practice, practice - write whenever you can, and as davers said, start practicing your copy in real life sales/persuasion situations, too, even if the situation is completely trivial, like you're trying to convince someone to give you a ride in exchange for a coffee. Once you start doing it all of the time, it becomes second nature...

#4 is to read writing of all shapes and sizes so you can write effective copy for a wide range of products and services. For example, start reading complicated financial articles, "feel good" articles on sites like Elite Daily... everything! As you read, that type of "style" will become second nature, and eventually, you'll have almost every style under your belt. (In general, it's easiest to write copy in your natural tone of voice, so your non-natural tones might not be as good at the start - don't give up!)

That's what I could think of off the top of my head, hope it helps!

Yea, practice is definately the main thing there.
Then try to compare yourself with some good ones and get rid of mistakes.

PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE. The more you write, the better you will get. It's almost like an automatic process. This is the real secret.

Read the good article, find the bad one, you will know how to differ one to another.
Sry im just a noob in copywriting m8... :(

Stop buying copy courses NOW. Take the ones you have and actually DO what they say to do. Also, look at sales letters in your niche and de-construct them. Ask yourself, what would make you (or your target customer) buy this? Take those psychological triggers and craft language that gets the trigger pulled.

Also, human beings (that's all of us) are wired for story. I'm not saying tell a LONG story. But definitely incorporate that into the copy. It came easy to me because I was writing since I was a kid. But if that's not you, take the advice on this thread, use what you like, scrap what you don't and STOP buying copy courses.

You can't learn it overnight mate! Hard work and inborn skills are required in these tasks. Anyway, you can should have to read the work of other authors to get well know how.

Model what other top writers are doing. Look at sales letters in a number of verticals. One thing you can do is look at some of the top producing products in clickbank. Googles the name of those products to find affiliate landing pages and study what they're doing to convert traffic.

For sales letter mechanics, here's a an outline that you'll see repeated by top writers and one that you can use:

1. Headline - this is the big benefit of the offer
2. Opening sentence - builds on the headline and expands on the problem > solution you're offering
3. Big Promise - this might have been in your headline or you may want to expand on your promise and what the reader is about to gain from reading your letter or watching your vid
4. Proof - convince them with evidence: bullet points, testimonials, facts, logic
5. Build the value of your offer - no matter what the price, people will think it's too much $ unless you explain its value and compare it to more expensive and less effective alternatives (including doing nothing)
6. Make the offer - this is your unique and most compelling set of features and benefits for the product or service your selling
7. Call to action - ask for the order and tell them exactly what to do now
8. Guarantee - reverse the risk for them and make it safe to buy from you
9. P.S. - these is the post script copy points that reinforce the messages you talked about in your letter or video

Again, watch what others are doing and model (don't steal) their methods.

Have fun.
