How to keep your rankings once you have them?

So ive worked hard on our money site to the point when i now launch a new product or blog it starts to rank well for lots of terms, both main target keywords and other long tails that google finds relevant.

Lots of times im getting second page straight away, and even 5 or so keywords straight onto the first page of bing/yahoo.

What my problem is ( and being new to seo doesn't help, but im trying ) keeping those keywords ranking. What do i do once they have got to page 1, 3, 5 etc? Should i have a standard link building plan including social signals etc?

Yes, always expand even if it's a little by little always continuou to be consistently.

It depends very much on the niche.

Fair play to you, at least you haven't just tried to give me irrelevant blanket suggestions, thank you. The site is about 8 months old on a new domain, it's in the gift industry but we have just launched our own subscription box line a month ago and this is what I will be pushing, were active on Instagram and pinterest with minimal success as I dont do social myself, we have a diverse backlink profile with a 'safe' anchor link profile too

then you will have to consistently build new links to your site.

you can't stop after you've reached on top there are competitors who are trying to over rank you.
Just keep posting blogs and guestblogging to maintain your link juice.

To sustain being in Top, you need to passively work more on content relevant updation like Blogs, guest blogging services etc. Make sure you don't do keyword stuffing rather in moderation and relevance.

Yes, be consistent on your blog posting and other submission. You should speed up your site , build your social presence , outbound and internal links

Social signals are great for a beginning and a way to keep your rankings on top is to wait some time to pass (1 month minimum) then build authority links in a slow-paced manner.
